Anyone made straight aerobars yet ?
Anyone made there own set of these yet ? I heard you could use MTB handlebars but do these have an internal bore that can accept bar end shifters when you cut them down ?

I've got 2004 Ovals and can't find another set of extensions long enough (I need 10 inches) to get what I need. The supply of HED's/Ovals new ones is very slow so i want to try my own set first.

Yes, that is what I use on my HED

Not truly straight, but if you are not averse to making modifications to a moderately expensive product, then you might consider getting Vision Tech's Integrated Pro alloy bars. If you get them one-two sizes larger, this would allow you to cut down the length of the aero extensions and if you do it at the point where the extensions angle upward, you are in effect making flat aero extensions. The diameter of the extensions for the alloy bars remains pretty constant so bar ends can be used regardless of the amount that you take off and for 2005, they are offering a choice of either flat or drop wings!

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

In a few more weeks, you can visit www.aero-concepts.com for my new 1 piece aero bar.

I also have a clip on, seat post, stems, etc. coming out.

Plus if you need a cool pool, I also work for www.infinitepool.com

Yes I have, and yes they will. The only exception is the MTB bars with a rise. I used the bars with a rise for more of an "S" bend. The internal bore is of no consequence to me as I use Profile Swiftshift.

Hey Bunnyman, which bars did you use ? I take it they were completely straight with no curve. Were they Aly ? Any other complications I need to worry about ?

ms.... the problem with cutting the vision integrated bars is that you might end up with a stem that is too long in order to get the right extension. vision made straight bars for csc last year and i assume they'll bring them out soon enough...

Do you think those extension were cut at the bend or are they custom straight extensions?

Why doesn’t VisionTech offer these to the rest of us? I bet 75% of us would prefer the straight ones.

Isaac-Carbon, makers of the Joule (my new TT bike), is advertising on their website that they have a new "wing/TT bar" upcoming. I wonder if it will have straight extensions. I bet any aerobar from Isaac will be quite nice and probably quite expensive.

if i am not mistaken.. the scott patent on "tri bars" is either over or ending soon so you will see a zillion different bar companies come out of the woodwork.

Yup, we made our very own aerobars. My model was specifically straight.

And no, unfortunately right now we're not taking orders (still got some more testing and prototyping to do before we can try and go commercial.) :-)

I'm still working on making some straight (or slight S) for my Carbon Xs.

So far, I've found out that the Easton carbon MTB bars (both straight and riser) will NOT accept a Campy bar end shifter. I was too lazy to take my Shimanos off my TT bike.

Also, I've had 0 luck asking each manufacturer for their internal diameter. Wonder why? ;o) Too boot, NO REPLY (imagine that?) from Profile regarding sale of a la carte extension when their new line is released. URghh....

If Feb comes w/o luck with a carbon straight, I'll default to alum MTB bars as each one I've measured will fit the (Campy) bar end shifter.
