arch pain!
I developed pain in the arch of my left foot this week. The odd thing is that I was on vacation so I only did some fairly short, easy runs every other day (same surface, concrete, but less strain than a typical week). I'm a forefoot striker and a neutral pronator (from self test). I was wearing a 3 week old pair of Asics Gel-Nimbus shoes which should be a good match for me.

Are there some exercises or stretches that would help? Or just the typical ice and rest?

Do some self massage. Try a getting a golf ball and rolling your arch over this while sitting. As a chiropractor I sometimes "adjust" the bones of the foot. If the problem persists also consider custom orthotics. I get this myself and the above suggestions work for me.

Sounds like plantar fasciitis. Took me about a month of riding and swimming only to get over mine. Mine was worse though, hurt to walk. Your case sounds pretty minor. I would make sure your calves are stretched out before you run, tight calves can contribute to PF.
