Garmin Forerunner 301

Is anyone selling this bad boy? I Googled it, I Froogled it, I even went to the Garmin website - everyone referenced the 201/101 Forerunner, and the 301 Gecko. What's up with this?

Demerly came back from interbike with news of this kickass new device, and no-one seems to acknowlege it's existence!

Does the MotionBased dude know anything? Anyone? Bueller?

According to Garmin, NO it doesn't. I finally broke down and got a BodyLink but the girl at Timex said they are releasing something called the Trail Master. She knew nothing more than the name and that "it's supposed to be better than the BodyLink". No release date, she said March - June of 2005 but was guessing at that.

I could not tell on a road bike, there did seem to be some wind coming back. I was terribly slow, non aero.

Hence the finish time. I figure I lost +/- two minutes riding the road bike on the hoods, vs. the TT bike with aero wheels.

Will see in two weeks, another TT on Thurs, Thanksgiving morning.

Next time, hopefully, I will have the TT bike.

Joe,

Don't hold back, dude. Where did you get it and how much did it cost? How is it working for you so far?

I'm interested in your thoughts as much as Garmin is.......

At this point, the spotty reception issues with the 201 have downgraded my impression from "kick ass device" to "a nice training toy". Throw in a HRM and it's like polishing a pile of crap. Not literally...but thought might be a good analogy. For $150, you get what you pay for. If the 301 hovers over $225.....I'd expect the basic reception issues to be addressed...which I hear is simply due to its small size.

oh well.
