Again, it depends on your level of fitness and ability. You might apply some harder sets to yourself after a lot of pull/paddle work. You'll be so tired you won't be able to hurt yourself (aerobically) that way. Yes, do your warmup/cooldown without the gear.

But if you take the attitude that they're toys, you are just playing around.

Take the attitude that they're tools, and you are working towards something.

Play -- no progress. Fun though. Work -- should be progress. Might not be fun. Find your mix.
