Hey all:
In a special Friday edition of the "Sports You Do Show" today, we're talking with the crew chief of Race Across America rider Mike Trevino of San Diego, on the road in the middle of the race. We'd talk to Mike himself, but he's a bit busy at the moment. His crew chief's name is Jerry Reiper, and he's a RAAM veteran, and he's hip to everything that's going on with Mike.
Trevino's been the revelation of this year's RAAM -- he's currently sitting in second place, about 3 hours behind Slovenian Jure Robic. The third-place rider is 9 hours behind Trevino. It's been an exciting race so far, and they're about at the halfway point.
You can follow the race at www.raceacrossamerica.org.
In 1993, Outside magazine rated RAAM the world's toughest race, giving it 676 points on a "toughness" scale, compared with 67 points for the Ironman in Kona.
Anyway, the live show is today at 12 noon Pacific, and it's free to listen.
