Miles goes long?
Just saw the results of the Muskoka long course from today. They did it in the same format as the Time Life Fitness race..women got an 18:05 headstart. Seems they didn't take into account that Miles Stewart can run as fast as he can. 3:19min/km for a 49:31 15km (2:40:35 overall time). Fastest time was not Lisa Bently..for a change..it was Tereza Macel in a time of 3:00:41. Guess they'll have to spot them a few more minutes next year.
As a side note...his win gives Miles entry to any of the North American Ironman races. Wonder what he'll do with that?

Interesting race.

On the surface it would seem that the men had the advantage, but with 6 men and 4 women in the "top ten" it was only a slight advantage and the handicap was just about right on.

Stewart set off on the run about 5 minutes down, but this is a man with sub 30 minute 10K speed, so there was no question that he was in the hunt. Interesting side note. Stewart has qualified for and competed in every ITU Short Course World Championship since the event's inception in 1989. He has a remarkable record of consistant top level performance at this level.

Indeed, it will be intriguing to see what he does now. He did not make the Aussie Olympic team( A tougher team to make than to actually qualify for the Olympic games!), so his North American summer season is wide open.
