Questionable Water Temp Measurement [ In reply to ]
OK, I didn't get to the lake today (6/22) until 1000. I measured the temp at 64.9 degrees! Take that with a grain of salt. . .it's been good and hot the past coupla days, but still. Air temp was 80.4 degrees.

I'll try to get out there earlier tomorrow.

Went out in the lake today - took my kids out skiing - they thought the water was fine - I jumped in and got right out - felt cold to me - I'll swim tomorrow with a wetsuit - I think it will be just fine - air temp today was mid 80's with lots of sun shine. IMNA put up the bike racks today along with expo tents. It is starting to look like an Ironman! Roch and Paul were out marking the course - mile marks are down on the pavement for both the bike and run. Lots of traffic signs warning locals about the race on Sunday. See you all at the Gatorade morning swims! Z

Shari, good luck at CDA -- by the way did you go to Keauhou? Thought I saw you at the Kona airport but it may have been your identical twin or just another good looking hard body!

Last Temperature Update. . . [ In reply to ]

OK, I figure everyone who's doing CDA Sunday is already here, so unless there are any objections, this is the last update on water temp.

Measured today (6/23) at 0930. Water temp 65.7, air temp 80. Swimmers reported pockets of cooler water, but that's to be expected. The lake is shaping up better than I expected- should be great conditions for the swim.

If Mr. Tibbs ever moves to an IM host town, he's sure to be arrested for public indecency. There are a LOT of nice bikes rolling around town right now. I was so mesmerized by all the prettiness I actually sat through a green light as I was leaving downtown this morning.

Me, too. I didn't expect it to warm up much at all from last week.

The lake is about 180 feet deep at its deepest.

Don't know how to explain the fast increase in temp. I'd blame it on the cheap thermometer I bought, but the swimmers I talked to today indicated that it was about right.

A group of us swam today and the water felt great! Actually a few brave people even wore sleeveless wetsuits. The lake is much warmer than even 1 week ago.

The change in the swim course is also much better! Hopefully this year athletes won't clobber each each on the first turn.

Good luck to everyone! The weather forecast looks just right!!!!

Go Team Blaze Spokane!

Enjoy the journey!

Vitus979, that is awesome. Was driving the course yesterday evening, coming up what was probably the steepest section of the course and there was the TSR sign - that will be inspirational on race day.
