In my second year of doing tris (1991) I bought a set of pursuit bars and used my old levers from the drops on the bike. I had them facing forward for a little while since they fit on the bars better that way. I eventually switched them around because I was told at one race that having them face forward was illegal but they'd let me race anyway.
