20 countries. Technically I didn't stay in Monaco, but my hotel was across the street from the border, and we spent a week there. Otherwise, I have stayed and drank (sometimes to excess), in each country.

Europe (13) - Spain, Germany, Italy, France, Russia, UK, Monaco, Ireland, Austria, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Portugal, Netherlands (courtesy of Bonaire and Curacao a long time ago)

Americas (2) - Canada and Mexico

South America (1) - Argentina

Asia (2) - China, Mongolia

Africa (2) - Kenya, Tanzania

There are three kinds of people, those who can count, and those who can't.

38 for me, not including those where I've been in transit, which would be about another 5 or 6.

Plan on visiting a few more of the tiny European countries (Andorra, San Marino etc) seeing as I'm living in Switzerland for the next 3 months

Travelling is my passion, I've already visited 30 countries and right now I'm planning my next trip. I often travel with friends and we even bought walkie talkies for our trips. useful tool if you want to stay connect even on a boat. I found info about best models with bluetooth here and ordered a few.

Been to 52, if including airport stopovers. Without airport stopovers, 48. If England and Scotland count as separate countries, then 53. Note, one of the countries doesn't exist anymore (East Germany) so I didn't count it.
Favourites:
Outside of my home country (Canada), Turkey, Nepal, Namibia, New Zealand, and Denmark. Also haven't been to a new country in 7 years.

10th Mountain was our QRF when i was roaming around northern AFG. My daughters boyfriend at the time, who is also my grandsons father, was a grunt with the 10th and in the platoon assigned as our QRF. His good buddy and PLT Leader, SFC Jared Monti was killed in action in June 2006. SFC Monti was awarded the MOH for his actions. My grandsons middle name is Monti. 10th Mountain took some serious hits on their 18 month deployment. Kicked some serious ass as well. Awesome group of young men.
Country western singer Lee Brice’s song, I Drive Your Truck” was written after the song writer heard an interview with Jared’s father, when asked how he copes, he said, “I drive his truck”.

Anywho:
Canada (went for the moose shows)
Mexico (went for the donkey shows)
Panama
Costa Rica
South Korea (10 more steps, I could have been in North Korea)
Japan
Singapore
Malaysia
Thailand
Hong Kong (China)
Philippines
Diego Garcia
Germany
France
Iceland
Norway
UAE
Kuwait
Afghanistan
Pakistan
Djibouti
Bahamas
29 Palms, Ca.
North Carolina

All courtesy of the USN with the exception of Mexico and Costa Rica. A few trips to Canada with the Navy as well as a few visits on my own.

My Diving Officer in Second Class Dive School, Little Creek, Va. was LT Michael Thornton. Navy SEAL who became a Diving Officer, he was awarded the MOH for action in Vietnam. That was one scary, mean and tough mofo. Truly a freakin badass. He was always causing trouble. His famous saying, “you fuckers remember, when I go to Admiral’s Mast, I sit down”. I remember him visiting the Admiral twice during my four months in dive school.

That's a nice list.
May I ask why you list Martinique separately from France? I am asking as nobody listed Hawaii as a separate country and Martinique is very much to France what Hawaii is to the States.
