Here is a picture of me as a young lad of 51 (4 years ago) that ultimately morphed me from a marathoner to a triathlete. At 11000 feet on the descent I suffered a devastating injury and basically hopped down the mountain and 6 months of rehab ensued and I didn�t run without pain for 18 months. I refused to water run and learned how to swim instead. 6 months later I went across San Francisco Bay. The rest, as they say, is history�.

If you're an Indy 500 fan, then you'll love the race as you run around the track one full lap. Just be prepared to dodge around 35,000 people, some who are walkers who started too close to the front, and you might also want to wear ear plugs if you don't like hearing a new musical band blasting your ear every 10th of a mile. Oh yeah - and the Joan Baez types strumming their political messages from the side of the road. But other than that - yeah it was fun!

Yep, those first swimming wetsuits were torture! Between all of the scars from the bike crashes, wetsuits and internal ones from injuries its a miracle I can move at all! :-)
(the Wild Turkey does seem to limber me up significantly though)

Nope, I keep a picture of both George Bush's on my wall. Believe it or not, despite what you hear on tv, there is this whole political party he belongs to that supports him as president. I'm a small business advisor for NRCC (in other words, I get these surveys a few times a week and fill them out with my opinions on stuff, although after NRCC supporting the whole "immigration bill" I'm beginning to question whether I will remain a member of the organization)
back on the subject. if you tape a banana on your toptube, do you ever have problems with it becoming squishy, or brown. My head knows a brown skin on a banana is just fine, but my mouth can't seem to swallow the idea.

I'm going to be headed up that way in August...my grandmother lives in Virginia on the Iron Range. My grandparents used to own a cabin on Lake Vermilion...when I was a kid we spent a lot of time in the summers...absolutely beautiful. My dad and I fished for walleye every day and fly-fished for bass and crappies in the evenings...we had some fantastic fish-frys up there.

Cool. Cook end of the lake or the Tower end? My grandparent's cabin was on the Cook end, east of Wakemup Bay in the narrows. I have tons of great memories from there. A great aunt and uncle used to be the caretakers at the Dayton place up there...fantastic log cabin.

I actually met the "leading" team for Border to Border at the "bear sanctuary" in Cook a few years back (in between events). They went on to win the thing. Looks like a really cool event...well except for the canoe part. They had some crazy light CF canoe...talk about expensive! Gotta love the boundry waters!

Racing canoes are much cheaper than racing bikes...they just take up more room in the garage! That race is a ton of fun, especially the run. 50 miles relay style with some people getting down to legs of a couple hundred meters goes real quick!

Two pics from our local half mary - a pretty tough course. This is the race I am proudest of to date, since I only started running and tri about a year and a quarter ago. Not the distance, but the time I was able to do my best mile pace in any running event (5k included).

Hmmmm, I get full leg extent ion at that height (somewhat short legged, longer torso). The bike is a 54, which is probably a hair too large for me (and had to get a Ritchey adjustable stem put all the way down), but the Trek 52's only come in 650's, and I wasn't going there. I need to get the ergo stem and drop it even lower- maybe that will make things "appear" better. Having the pic taken at 3 and 9 o'clock didn't help appearances either :-).
