It's NOT on the CM2 promotions website, it's on (ack)tive.com.

I thought a 50 mile ultra run (10 x AmZof run loop) would be a sick stupid human trick, but we've already got a great 50 miler with Rock the Ridge and a vicious beast known as Manitou's Revenge.

I may qualify as that stupid human, because I'd be interested in 10 x AmZof run loop, but maybe after the fall, after the leaves and tourists are all gone. Who cares if there is snow in the air if you only have to run.

This past year, I used X-Talon 195's (like trail race flats - btw, the model # for each shoe is the weight in grams) for the opening run, and then TrailRoc 255's for the 2nd run.
I will go with this plan again next time.

That is exactly what I was looking for. I've been running in Inov8 road shoes lately, which are fantastic. I've been interested in trying their trail shoes, but there are so many flavors I didn't know where to start.

Thanks!

The offroad shoes generally come in 2 distinct "flavors" - big knobby shoes, and moderate knobby shoes:

The X-Talon have the big knobs (and they're made of grippy climbing shoe rubber to boot). Ditto for the 295's.
The TrailRoc's are more moderate knobs (more than adequate for AmZof) and a bit more cushion, support, and underfoot protection, than the Talons.
You'll feel the trail, for better or worse, thru the soles of something like the X-Talon. They're fairly minimalist, other than the killer knobs.

Not to hijack the thread from more important matters (AmZof and AmZof Tri), would you say the x-talons are more or less a lugged/knobbed racing flat?

Yes, indeed. Trail racing flat. I think they weigh < 7oz, which when you see the fairly burly knobs, is pretty damn impressive.
They look like mini-soccer cleats.

I might consider that, if you'll run with me. Looks like there will be about 10.5 hours of daylight, which translates in to 63 minute laps. Better bring a headlamp.

I didn't think of that (much like the very first AmZof when the start time was pre-dawn AND I didn't know where the light switch was for the pavilion).

OK, it's on my calendar. We'll start at sunrise so we can enjoy the sunset from the pavilion with good beer and war stories.

Slainte!

For the record, are you agreeing to the "if you'll run with me" part of this? This doesn't mean you need to run side by side with me, because I'll be slow, but that you're signing up for the full ten laps.

If so, I guess I better get out and go for a run!

I'd sign up for that. Not the running, though. Watching, heckling and some beers.

Yes, assuming no injuries, I'll run it with you. I'm planning on a trail marathon the beginning of November which is why I opted for that later date.

I actually, finally, started running again the beginning of May. Of course, I did too much too soon and am currently sidelined, but I did manage to shed 16 of the 33 pounds I gained since Lake Placid 2010 and got some good mileage in. Hopefully, I'll be able to start running again in a few days.

Shit!

...I mean, you're on! Actually, this will give me the motivation I need to get out and run in the AM, but somehow I'm sure this falls into the "stupid to start" category.

Anybody else want to prove how stupid they are?

Nope, but I did just give my $134 to play with the Canadian Women next May.

First workout aimed at GCG F1 20015 this morning:

5 stage mountain bike brick workout in the Brickyard at Bethpage State Park;

14 minute run through the Brickyard, I wimped on the inner loops

5.6 mile mountain bike ending with the Brickyard

16 minute run through the Brickyard with the inner loops

5.2 mile mountain bike starting and ending with the Brikyard

15 minute run through the whole Brickyard

First time coming up the final hill of the Brickyard on the bike I thought ''I wish I didn't have to do this again''. I had a lot more trips to go up those hills. The final run up that hill my legs were burning.
I might be the oldest person in the race but I'm going to make anyone who finishes in front of me has to earn those beers and burgers at the finish!
