Hi JoshR

You know we haven't tested that, but it may work. As far as your cap leaking, we can definitely get you a replacement. It should definitely not leak. I have found with others on this thread that experienced the same issue, there was a very small percentage that had leaking issues. When sending a replacement out, it resolved the issue. Go ahead and shoot me an email with your address and we can get that fixed for you.

Unfortunately no. However it is such a low cost for the complete system. When you take into account that our Alloy Torpedo Mini plates go for $40 and the entire Kompact system is $50, I doubt you will have a hard time re-selling the Kompact plate with the clamps.

First ride with the Kompact today. Resulted in losing my 920XT from the Garmin mount, not to be found again. A EUR 350 lesson in not trusting the mount.

my experience with it at IMTX. Gatorade bottles fit nice, but the water bottles were a little narrower and the garmin vibrated and made shitloads of noise the entire time. Disappointed.

Same. Gatorade fit just fine but was not snug and rattled around a lot. Standard bottle-exchange water bottle was an absolute NO GO. Way too soft and almost bounced right out in the span of a couple hundred feet. This was with an Ice Mountain sport-top 20ounce-ish bottle. Disappointed in this as the Gorilla cage would hold these bottles without an issue. The only solution was to somehow re-inflate the bottle fully and then it would still move around a lot in the cage but would not fall out. I resorted to keeping the water in the behind-the-seat, and Gatorade in the BTA, which is opposite of what I am used to.

I don't like my new kompact either.
None of my other normal bottles fit it well, and obviously the bottle included isn't refillable.

Appreciate the feedback.

Unfortunately not all bottles are sized identical. Water handouts are very tiny and Gatorade bottles are slightly bigger, then you have the likes of Camelbak bottles which come in 2 different sizes.

We do take into consideration all feedback for future designs and will relay yours to the engineers today!

Sorry to hear your normal bottles don't fit. We have made a fix in the current Kompact system to help relieve some of the grip. I wanted to check and see which version you had. Could you email me direct please?

I didn't mind so much that the water bottles weren't held tight. It's understandable that all bottles are different sizes, and you can't control what the race is handing out.

My issue is the design of the Garmin mount. It relies on a bottle for stability. When the bottle isn't big enough to engage it, it vibrates and shakes all over the place. Please fix it to where it doesn't do that.

Appreciate the understanding.

As far as the computer mount - agree! We actually changed the strength of material in the plastic to a higher % in the last few batches. If you would like to email me I can see which version you have

Have the Kompact, it is awesome. Use both Specialized bottles and the one that came with the mount; I have had 0 issues with spillage or difficulty removing bottles. Really like that it came with the spacers and longer screws to accommodate the Garmin Quick Release Kit.

It's easy to make excuses, but excuses don't make champions.

I use a length of a bungee speed-lace to tie down the Garmin mount to keep it from bouncing around. Sure it looks a bit MacGyver-ish, but it works and I've had no issues.

+1
I have only tested the replacement computer mount ring standing off the bike (both tested the same way). Compared to the original I perceive an improvement. I have updated my blog review as a result. Road test tomorrow. Thanks Candice and XLAB team.

I am going to have to do the same. I was riding with the kompact this week and pulled the bottle out, and the mount started vibrating so bad my computer started rotating out of its mount.

I really wanted to use this aerobar system with 1l bottle. So I used this one:

http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/...-sport-/rp-prod89844
I removed the garmin mount, because with it the bottle can even fit the cage. Without , it fits ok, but a bit loose.
Once I rode with the system I realized that the cage was not holding the bottle enough so, I could loose the bottle easyly.

Any advice on what to use for bigger bottles? Any other cage? IĀ“d like not to get rid of the garmin mount, but if thereĀ“s no other choise, I prefer to carry my 1l bottle than the mount.

The included bottle is good, as long as it does not leak. Camelbak Podium Chill bottles are good too.

Given the fixed diameter of the bottles that will fit in the cage, you are going to be looking at a LONG bottle. Even the Podium Big Chill is only 710ml. I would be concerned about the mechanics in general of fitting a bottle like that in there. It is going to be so long that you might have more bottle out of the cage than in the cage. In that case you might still have issues with bumps on the road dislodging the bottle due to the leverage imparted on the bottle at that length.

Even Torhans is not hitting the 1L capacity, nor is Profile Design Aerodrink. You could do the PD Aquacell which will exceed 1L between the two cells. But that is a totally different platform than the XLAB.

Having used the Kompact 100 for a few weeks now, and the idea and design is perfect.

My only issue is ratteling, not from the cage but from the 2 screws that holds the metal plate, i was very suprised they did not have a bolt underneath? But just seems to be plate and "screw", it might be that i initially had not tightend it enough, should this do the trick or are there know issue with it coming loose?

I will let others comment on their experience.

We are happy though to help you out. We do recommend a torque of 35 in lbs on that particular bolt. If it is still rattling then I am thinking it could be a mistake in the manufacturing either of the screw or the insert in the clamp - especially with it being so new.

If you would like us to investigate please email us and we would be happy to help!

I've now used my Torpedo Kompact 100 for 1 1/2 yrs. I think it maybe getting loose. When going down hill on chippy roads, my bottle will launch out. This of course sucks.

Looks like the new Torpedo Kompact 500 has fixed this issue? But how hard is it to remove the bottle while in aero position? That is the one thing I loved about the 100.

Sorry to hear - definitely not ok.

Kompact 500 vs 100 - The cage is different (carbon) and the computer mount chassis is slightly different. The computer mount chassis was designed, not necessarily as an improvement, but rather to fit the Raptor cage that comes with it.

I have personally never heard of anyone complaining about the difficulty in taking a bottle out of the Kompact 500.

I am going to be in/out of the office this week thanks to jury duty & meetings, but I do want to get to the bottom of why the bottle is launching. Can you email Trent, one of our engineers? He will be able to help you diagnose the problem!

Anyone ever run the Kompact system upside down? I love the ease of the Kompact but find my face right in the bottle when riding.
