If you can't get fired up listening to Conquest (Rocky II) and War (IV) and Training Anthem (IV), then you can't get fired up.

Yeah ... I own the CD's. =) I agree EOT has run its course.

Most of the second floor was devoted to modern "art", like a circle of rocks on the floor, the last time I was there. The statue was eventually moved to the Spectrum, I think, with a great deal of difficulty.

It's actually a pretty good length run from South Philly where he is supposed to live to the Art Museum and back. The Art Museum steps themselves, however, are not very hard because they are neither steep nor that many, but it is kind of fun to run up them and the view is great from the top.

In the odd world of coincidences, it's been years since I've posted here, years since I've been told someone has responded to one of my posts here and years since I have heard Eye of the Tiger. But, since I heard the song on the radio this morning, all three have happened. Somehow it's not surprising that Dev is still here. The song was still great to here; it reminded me of listening to it on the way to swim practice in the summer of 1982 or so.

Whatever it takes to get you jokers back around here, even if it is a thread about Rocky theme music :-)

If its the version played by the Red Hot Chilli Pipers (not Peppers)....its all good.

Otherwise, I could do without.

It took awhile, but I finally discovered that its not the destination that's important, but rather the journey.

I'd pay the price of listening to eye of the tiger on infinite repeat if RDs would refrain from u2s 'Beautiful Day. '. It's not a bad song ... It's just the lack of originality stops me cold every time I hear it prerace.

Yes! Drives me crazy. So does final countdown.

But, if they're playing Raise Your Glass by Pink I'm all over it. Seriously. That's my jam.

I kinda like "Where the Streets Have No Name" though ... that opening run in from Edge & Larry really gets me going

Thank you very much. It's good to stop by once in a while. I actually just started riding the bike again on the trainer and might get back on the tri circuit next summer. Unless I decide to swim at FINA masters worlds in Montreal, which might be interesting.

Wanna run Will Smith's "Summertime?" Someone has already posted the Landmarks for you [in order]

http://philly.curbed.com/...resh-prince.php#more

Roughly mapped [again, in order] it comes out to about 20 miles

http://www.mapmyrun.com/routes/view/490178272

Now, truthfully, it could be done just as easily as a simple out & back from Belmont Plateau to Logan Circle and back [with a couple detours] but what's the fun of that?

Neither this thread, nor the music it refers to can die. This thread and the music will still be around long after slowman shuts down ST and moves on. They might shut down the entire website, but somehow this thread will weave its way through some data center somewhere on the www and emerge in some other forum!

Never do a marathon in Mexico!

I was in Villahermosa with my wife on vacation as a stop on a bus tour. There was a marathon going on and we were right by the finish line. Eye of the Tiger was played on REPEAT. In the half hour or so we sat there it was all Eye of the Tiger all the time. No other songs.

Swim - Bike - Run the rest is just clothing changes.

I think U2's "It's a Beautiful Day" is sliding into the top spot for being overplayed. It was playing as I crossed the line at my 1st IM...not hear I could hear it over my yelling... but it was in the video after and I remembered it after I stopped moving. Come to think of it, I'm not sure I could hear Mike Reilly either.

And there it was again at a local 5k before the start. Not a bad thing... whenever I hear the song now, I can think about my first IM finish. Man... I want the go run that last 5k again... the best pain I've ever felt.

I supply the music to the many events that I Race Announce at, and I can assure you that "Eye of the Tiger" is NOT in the mix.

I had a woman come up to me at a race this past summer and ask me about the music. She said - "this is the best music mix I have ever heard at a triathlon!"

The mix is a mixture of hip-hop, rap, trance, EDM, with some 1980's & 90's under-ground favourites of mine thrown in( like Kraftwerk's, "Tour de France")

Someone calculated a while back, based on the footage from the run montage, that Rocky ran 30.61 miles that day.
