Question for the fish. I wanted to incorporate a weekly hard interval set into my swims. Does anything look wrong with this? I wasn't sure when to do the hard set with lots of rest - beginning or end of workout. I usually have a focus for my workouts. Some examples: maintaining pace for long distances (e.g. 4 x 500); endurance (short rest such as 10 x 100 on 1:20); IM (e.g. 5 x 200 IM); or speed (e.g. 10 x 100 fast on 3:00). From your question it sounds like you are trying to do everything in one workout. Perhaps try to add some variety. It keeps things interesting. And I agree with antonbp's comments--use the easy for active recovery or warming down. There's no need for it unless you just finished some high intensity.
OK, I've been out of the pool most of the last week fighting a strained ab. Back in today, tried to keep the intensity down.
