My tt bike has a 1' steer tube. Is there a shim or is the 1 & 1/8 steer tube only?

You can just buy a shim online - standard fare for 1st Gen SC7 owners, as the steerer tube tapered down to 1".

Sigma X and Alpha X each include a shim for 1" steerer tubes.

Can you fit a di2 Junction A box in the Sigma X? I had thought the cover was just for cable routing.

Only asking because, if there is no space for a Junction A box, then I suspect the Sigma X/Omega X combination doesnt work (cos the Junction A Box would have to be under the stem and interfere with the cable run to the Omega X).
There is no cavity in Sigma X for a junction box. But you don't have to put it under the stem. Instead, a good spot is on the back surface of the stem. Since there are no pinch bolts there, it's a nice smooth surface and you could hot glue the junction in place out of the wind.

Hey Tririg

Could you show me some "real" pictures of sigma X stem?

There are only rendered images on google and your site.

Thanks in advance!

Wow thanks!

Is it yours?

I am curious whether there's still some gap between the upper and lower part when you fully tighten clamp bolts.

Anyway It's sick. Looks much better than my expectation!

Yes it's mine on a Felt AR1, the build is not finish but with an Omega X brake too at the front it looks very nice !

There's still a gap between the two part yes, like the Sigma XF.

It looks better than the Sigma XF (I have it too), you loose the place to put the di2 junction box on the new one but I don't care cause eTap :)

Your installation looks slightly uneven. Noticed that the gap on the back half is much smaller than the gap on the front. You should redo the tightening of the faceplate. Ensure progressive torque all bolts, and maintain an equal gap front and rear.

Yes no problem I just put the handlebar for the pictures, almost no thightening.
But there's still a little gap with all the right torque ?

What is the stack height with no spacers used for the sigma X?

Can the sigma stem be used with a shim to accommodate a 26.0 bar?

Thanks!

Have not tested it specifically, but I see no reason why not.

Hey Tririg, got my Sigma X stem for Christmas and am super impressed. Absolutely love it. But I would suggest including longer bolts to secure the bottle cage with. The ones included are too short to secure a Kappa cage to the stem. I had some 16mm stainless bolts laying around from another project and they worked perfectly. Just some feedback. Keep up the good work.

Why are these stems so damn heavy?

Good question and to be honest, there is no good reason. They are not that much lighter than the original metal version. They are an aero beast. I was shocked by how heavy it was when it arrived. Not much room for tuning either as it does come with some ti bolts. It could have been made lighter and should have come in at under 200g's

I believe that Culprit will be coming out with a new aero stem that is lighter and more options for electronics.

It's solid carbon. Like... SOLID carbon. It may have weighed less if it were made out of aluminum.

Nick is a weight weenie at heart so I am sure he could have done better BUT he is also an owner of a business covering his ass so I get the weight from that standpoint.

finishing up my bike with the Sigma X and for some reason I'm having a hard time bringing myself to torquing the stem clamp to 15Nm on my carbon steerer. I know different wedge design, but what about you guys? Get a little nervous with that high of a torque?

I want to get one of these, but living in the UK this is going to be a $300 stem after import charges, before I even pay for shipping; the exchange rate is helping much either :(

We need a Free Trade agreement.

We need a Free Trade agreement.

Don't worry, NAFTA is about to become CAFTA and after May's speech to the GOP retreat in Philadelphia I'm sure they'll bring the U.K. in as well (I'm sort of kidding sort of serious).

She's PM *because of* Brexit. She has to be tepid because one of the laws of the EU is that member countries cannot negotiate trade agreements with countries outside of the block.

I won't go any further here, this is subject matter for the Lavender Room :)
