Unlike Roberto I will be signing up for this race and it will be my third IM full distance after Zurich and Barcelona. I raced the very first IM 70.3 in Pescara and found it well organized. They even brought the German IM team down to deal a lot of the race logistics.
They cannot have an Ironman during the summer in Italy because a) too many tourists and no hotel availability b) temps are well over 100°f
September weather nowadays is still quite warm, this year still about 75°f and humid.
Not sure about the finish line pizza - LOL - but there are plenty of inexpensive pizza shops lining the beaches :-)
As for my own excitement, I've lived in Italy for 35 years and have been racing triathlons since 1997 so yes, I am excited that Italy has another Long Distance race, no matter what the brand is.
