Thanks for the suggestion. I've never done yoga before, but it's probably worth trying out.

Just replying to thread after watching the Euro ITT ...
I really hope KĂĽng will be OK; that was shocking.
Tarling is incredible, what a ride.

Smoking fast ride.
And also a bummer for Van Hooydonck having to retire.

A friend mentioned Tarling's ride and the watts he reported so I just turned this on.
An even bigger WTF is that Kung ride....bonkers he was back on the bike.

his team and the officials failed him. No way anyone sensible thinks "looks good to me, crack on."
Another wreck could have been catastrophic.
Tarling was amazing.

Not a great silver lining, but a silver lining nonetheless. Worse would have been a cardiac incident during a race.

Agreed. Shocking level of negligence, yet par for the course for pro sports.

As am I and most importantly thrilled he is there for his partner and child.
With the emergence of Rog and Venga as super-(unhelpful)-domestiques I thought we'd have a chance for GC Donck, but alas that is no more. ;)

For anyone in the United States who might know, what's the scoop on this AJ August kid. The rumour mill has him signing with Ineos and his current managers are claiming a Vo2 max of 92 ml/kg/min, saying he's got 6.9 w/kg for 14 minutes at 17 years old. His race results look nice, but not necessarily reflecting that kind of talent.
Anyone familiar with him?

Interesting, hadn't heard of him. Glad that Hot Tubes is still helping along good talent now that Lux is gone.
I agree about race results in the context of the "better talent than Remco" stuff I just read thrown around. He should be able to just ride away from people at the domestic junior level even without tactical nous with that level of talent, and his race results don't quite reflect that.
But pro-grade talent, sure.
I approve of anyone who takes Phil Gaimon KOMs! (saw that he took one in an article about him)

Those numbers should all be taken with a grain of salt until verified.
For instance, my SRM was returned to me with a slope of 33.4 Hz/Nm (measurement determined by SRM). Using my own weights, I determined it to be 34.2 Hz/Nm. So the factory-determined slope gave numbers ~2.5% higher than actual. I’ve noticed similar discrepancies in other models (though with very little actual drift). This is why slope calibration is important and why i used to do it 2x/year when i raced. Many, however, would just take the higher # to pad “self-esteem”.
With slope drifts, inconsistent zeroing, etc, one can never trust what is given, particularly when the the source of that info has a vested interest in hyping those numbers. It’s also why i have a smirk on my face when someone who has done 5.5 w/kg in a zwift race can’t shed a Cat-3 pack.
Then again, 92 mL/kg/min, even if hyped by 5%, is still impressive. You just hope that the protocol used didn’t hype it by 10%.

"$200 and a van" sounds about the right haul you'd get from most pro cyclists.
Shout out to Scruffy yesterday in Luxembourg for stage thievery.

I've been friends with AJ's parents for 30 years or so. Both are solid riders in their own rights and owned a very successful bike shop for years.
AJ and Magnuss Sheffield grew up a couple miles apart from each other just outside Rochester, NY, probably why you see AJ on an Ineos issued Dogma and invited to their winter camp.
He's a huge talent and appears to have a good team around him guiding him. I've seen hm state he's not in a rush to turn pro, but you never know these days

I grew up in Brighton; hard to understand how these guys got so good In that area.
1. $$$$
2. Rochester has turned out a ton of Olympians across a lot of different sports so not really a surprise we can have some seriously good cyclists.
