Can we give some type of award or prize for the first person to post a picture of Crowie on the bike in Hawaii that he will use in Kona with confirmation as to what brand it will be? I figure if this would be awarded then the true ST crazies would be all lining up at the pier tomorrow 6am through until said picture is posted.

The one thing that is certain from that photo is that Chris is cranking a bunch more watts than Craig to go the same speed. Craig looks definately the "slipperier' rider.

No, you're right, it was that podcast, but I don't go on podcasts. It was my colleague Brad who chats there and was the one who espoused the news. Unfortunately, he'd not spoken to any of the people involved. His info was secondhand, and unfortunately, incorrect.

I really don't think its the Cervelo or Avanti just because of how the seatpost is secured. It is still a relatively grainy pic, but that pic appears to show the seatpost being secured in a fashion similar to the Shiv.
But you're right. It def could be the new Orbea and probably the best odds.

No problem, sorry for putting your name on the information. I forgot the "I think it was but don't quote me".
Enjoy this next week either way. And great job with the magazine. Really good stuff...

How would they have stopped it? The wanted to race, the new bike wasn't going to be rideable for 2-3 more weeks (if thats the case).
Damn it Scotty we need warp speed now, doesn't always work.

Admittedly, I don't know much about the bike development process. But I would suspect that if you are that close to having a finished product, you would at least have a rideable prototype that he could have used. Maybe I am totally off-base on that, though. Or maybe this is the rideable prototype?
Either way, it seems that if they were that close, they could have leaned on CA to use an Orbea at Vegas. "Ride an Orbea in Vegas and if we don't have the new bike ready for Kona, we will give you [$$/a release from the contract/a P4]." If they knew the new bike was that close, it seems like they would have done everything in their prower to prevent Vegas. Maybe they did and CA was just completely unwilling to ride an Orbea for one more race.
Obviously, this is all rank speculation. But it's fun.

He's not riding an Avanti, theres only a few prototypes around and he doesn't have one of them. My post here has no connection to my previous post in another thread.
I was merely commenting on what I have seen him out on. The bike he was riding has some graphics but no branded stickers (like the pic above from Lukes blog) so no one can be 100% sure exactly what it is.

I first thought the bike in the picture might be a P1 - the tubes look roundish, not overly deep. And the seatstays on the P1 attached clearly below the top tube.
The seatstays on the Blue Triad would seem to be an even better match - and it would make sense, since Blue needs a new top pro face after Raelert switched to BMC...
