I just heard back from my shop. Zipp is going to give me a zipp 30 course wheelset as a replacement for my 101 front.

Quite a nice deal!

They had better not do that with the 101 front I sent in...I WANT the original "champagne" rim back!

I've had nothing but problems with Zipp products. That reminds me, I have to send some of mine in.

I just hate messing up the rip on zipp thread, but I've never had any problems with any of their stuff.

Who complains about Chinese wheels, not those that bought them, only those that sell or bought expensive "superior" wheels. One of the examples why brand name wheels are so expensive...

How many "generic chinese" products do you know where a defect has been recalled and replaced?

For 1/6th of the price you just get a new set.

Large recalls like that are not necessarily caused by fact that company cares about customer...

I know how it sounds, unbelievable but... Car manufacturers when in deep financial problems (s*tty sales etc.), recall all eg. airbags for safety reasons, this brings them to state of bankruptcy (each recall is priced at very high cost) which is allowed by government due to security issues, they even get money for the recall. They do the recall, shops get paid, manufactures get paid, we pay for their bankruptcy to the banks, but not directly, they go about their business as nothing happen. Money just got moved, nobody lost, everyone is happy.

Man, thinking about this now, wouldn't this be a great deal for everyone with 10spd only hubs to cash in and get their hubs replaced with 11spd models for free?

I'm pretty sure it's only front hubs.

So because there are no recalls, you assume there are no failures
Are the Chinese recalling all these exploding hoverboard things?

I would rather a company recalls and repairs/replaces a product than just let priducts fail and people get hurt.

Haven't sent mine in yet, I need the wheel.
But it would be nice to see what they replace the hub with before I do.

Anybody got theirs back and have pictures?

I sent mine in. Arranged to send it in directly rather than through an LBS since the one that sold me the wheel went out of business and I live in a remote, rural area. It took about ten days and I have it back. Seemed reasonably easy to me. They gave me a bit of static about not going through an LBS, but they did it and there were no problems.

Stay aero my friends.

I got a front wheel back, this is not my own photo but this is what the new replacement hub looks like if your original (recalled) zipp hub was silver:

ask your dealer for the tracking information. wheels should be in and out of Zipp's factory in Indy in less than 5 business days.

Your not talking about shipping tracking right? Zipp is providing tracking on the recall status (wheels arrived, wheels being serviced, where's shipped back, etc)?

So it looks like a 188 V9 version that is slotted for 16 spokes.
That's cool, my spare spokes will still be the right length.

Now if they would do the same for the rear wheels which is what really worries me as I have seen three of these break their flanges and not yet seen a front.

I have seen two of the rears go as well. They should recall all hubs with the bands front and rear.
