Those have 20 spokes. Premier has 18. I'll never buy a front rim brake race wheel that uses 20 spokes. Unnecessary for most riders.

The disc brake version may be similar though.

The profile of those are really weird. It wouldn't surprise me at all if they have an updated model in the works that is wider

The wheels are open model I believe. Like a lot of the trispokes being releases recently they duplicate the Trioka

I think they are selling out of this bike shop https://www.facebook.com/emotioncarbonwheels/

“Section 5.02 Equipment (a) wheels (I) The front wheel must be of spoke construction”

Have you guys seen this? Tri spoke front wheel can’t be used in Ironman races from now on. Rear is ok.

Just sent an email asking for clarification on that. I'll update when I get a response.

interesting. Ironman has always allowed tri-spoke style wheels. It's Hawaii that has a special rule due to strong crosswinds, which I don't think we've seen at the IMWC in many years.

In theory isn’t it still a “spoked wheel”?
I think they are referring to having a front disc wheel.

Guys, I think there is no problem. This section is exactly the same as in 2023. If you go to the front page of

https://cdn1.sportngin.com/...NAL_March_6_2024.pdf

you will see that only text highlighted in green is new vs 2023 rules. This section is not highlighted and indeed the 2023 rules already have the exact same text.

It also says:

"ii) Wheels of spoke construction may consist of an aero rim with spokes (spokes may be bladed, round, flattened, or oval);"

There is nothing on the number of spokes, material, thickness ect. A two spoke or three spoke carbon wheel is still a spoked wheel under IM rules.

My bad. Thanks for the clarification. I’m a newb! They don’t want solid disc wheel in the front due to safety concern. I thought spoke meant those thin wire/metal spokes.

I know numerous friends on the UK TT scene that are running that wheel now. No reported issues. Some have opted to switch out the bearings for aftermarket high quality ones but they seemed fine when I spun a few in my hands.
I also got asked about this wheel in the latest Cycling TT podcast here (episode #184): https://cyclingtimetrialpodcast.libsyn.com/

My understanding is that it doesn't duplicate the Troika - the Troika itself is merely a straight rebadging of the open mould wheel (with quite an uphike in price but the added assurance of an aftermarket warranty).
