I'm beginning to think that we are much more fucked than I thought.

Thin skins and sensitive issues are everywhere.
You could also say that ignorance and indiference is everywhere.
Although I get it when people say "You can't say anything anymore", what they are failing to acknowledge is that for the first time many priviledged people are having to 'own' their words and the meaning behind them.
This is a good thing.

I didn't read all the posts, I was too hard at some of them. Oops, sorry about using "hard". Anyway, I get offended when asked if I've plugged my dongle into my computer.

Who knew that asking people to be more considerate and intentional would bring out so many insecurities? You should know. It is generally how humans react when their group is threatened.
What group was threatened?
You serious?
Ok, then, I was referring to the group that finds comfort and identity in the subculture and the norms here. Normal human behavior. When the behavior or mores are called into question, the safety of the membership in the group is threatened, and the normal response is to mock and ridicule.

Yep, I was serious.
I find the implications of your response pathetic. (not your repsonse itself - that may well be accurate, unfortunately)
Asking people to consider changing something is far from threatening.
If anyone finds the OPs comments threatening, they have serious insecurity problems.
Take part in a group by all means, but if you turn into an irrationally defensive idiot because of fear of losing some aspect of it, then get the hell out and don't look back. Be yourself and use your brain. If you do nothing else, do that.... or at the very least, try!

Was thinking of other terms we use that may be insensitive.
Death march
Bombed
Crashed
Piss on myself
Fart
Puked
Ran out of gas
Cramps
Carbon fiber (environmentalist)
Tailwind
Nut
Food (the hungry)
Battery
Pitchfork
Extensions
Sir or madam
Victory (offensive to Nazi’s and Harley owners)
I think I’m gonna have to go mute for the rest of my life.

Dude, get some perspective. One person pointed out some words he found problematic on here and we have 7 pages of overly sensitive man-children up in arms about it.
Well now you have gone and offended all the women-children on here by leaving them out.

Yeah, as much as I disagree on some points, I don't think you're out of line at all. Incidentally, you've got me curious about the term found offensive by the irish person. Don't suppose you'd share it?
Is that an actual irish person or an american of irish ancestry?
Count me also as one who doesn't think the OP is out of line for expressing his feelings. I'm not one to use the term crack pipe, but now having heard the OP's perspective, it's not something I would do at all.
That said, I have enjoyed (for the most part), the razzing that's entailed.
