What do you think Armstrongs bike split would be at Ironman? What about a finish time?

Who cares? He really doesn't want to do it.

This has been discussed before and would depend on the course but assuming IMH...
S - 0:55ish - B - 4:30ish - R - 3:10ish - 8:45 +/- 20 mins
FWIW - I see him doing Xterra WC before IMH.

Well I believe in God, and the only thing that scares me is Keyser Soze

4:30?????? Come on now. You are saying his splits would be SLOWER than the course records???
I am guessing he could ride a conservative 4:10 to 4:15

Just remember, the more LA hears he can't do something the more he kicks butt of the non-believers. There is a whole lot of guys with their tail between their legs for doubting him. I still remember getting blown off the road by a young puke kid from texas.

Considering he averaged "just" 28.8 mph in his last 34 mile TT - I would put his 112 mile TT at about 4:05 give or take a few minutes...so yeah 4:15 would be no problem but he generally doesn't run 26.2 after his TT :-)[/reply]Don't forget that TT had some signficant hills in it and some very technical descending. His 28.8 was crazy fast. You are not going to find either of those in most tris...

With. Anyone who thinks tri is a clean sport is crazy.

I think most people are afraid to admit that he has the potential to dominate IMH like he dominated the tour. It's only a matter of time and the more naysayers there are talking smack the sooner he'll do it.

I think it would be a great PR move for WTC to just issue him a standing invite to come to Kona any time, all expenses paid, if he ever chooses to do the race. Sounds like a win-win to me.

Plus nutrition in Cycling is vastly different than nutrition in running. Not that I don't think he would have the resources to "get it" really quickly, but I don't think he would win the first time either. A marathon is a loooooong run. :)
I agree that the pros don't get nearly enough credibility and credit.

Not necessarily win for LA. Many people would see 2nd place as a failure for a 7 time TDF winner. He would have to be doing it purely for himself - a personal challenge.

can you imagine the PR flack from triathletes? especially after larsen 'took some age grouper's slot' this year.

Look at John Howard - 1981 IM-H. He came from a cycling background and still took a while to learn to swim and run with the best of them before he won. Does Lance have that much time? I doubt it. He is almost past the prime age for pro triathletes (Dave Scott excepted)..
Frankly I doubt if (1) he would want to prove himself by doing IM-H and (2) even if he did, several of the current pros would run him down on the marathon, regardless of how stron he may be on the bike. Now XTerra, that is a different thing (as evidenced by his winter off road tri resutls from last winter).

how quickly we forget. . . some years ago udo bolts did the ironman, while he was still racing for telecom. before that race, jurgen zack said "the fastest bike split this year will be by a triathlete, not a cyclist" and he was right.
