What is "endurance index"? Like VO2max?

Very nice software, and many thanks.

Thanks Robert!

Endurance Index a.k.a. Endurance Parameter Ratio, is the quotient between D' and CV, as defined in this article: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/10444649

I've seen mention of a table regarding the Endurance Index, but can't find it. For instance, one of my rides was 37. Just how bad is that? ;)

Interesting stuff....

Built up a multisport PMC chart using the various triscore metrics but it looks like there's no triscore for about a third of my workouts. No pattern that I can discern, and all three sports don't show up at one time or another. Ran correction tools (missing data, gps errors, elevation) on a few missing files but they still didn't show up.

Also keep getting the "Upgrade athlete" dialog each time I open GC and have turned off the auto import as it wants to keep importing the same files each time I open the program.

Do love the interval stuff, climbs & matches discovery in particular and the interval navigator. Certainly nothing like GC for cycling analysis and I'm sure based on past history the multisport stuff is bound for great things ahead, all of your hard work is appreciated.

The "Upgrade athlete" coming back is an indication there are file which could not be upgraded, check the error log an fix (or remove) them before the next start so upgrade can finish, this can help: https://github.com/...roubleshooting_Guide

You can add the TriScore metric as bars to PMC so you can see the value for each day and with left-click look at details:

Check for TriScore value, if the value is too low or too high for runs or swims check the speed curve and if it has weird valued fix them in Edit or, in the worst case, select the Speed column and use Clear Contents in the context menu so TriScore is estimated based only on average speed.

I don't know :)
Anyway, according to the paper I posted before, which is available for free in full format at http://jap.physiology.org/content/87/2/853:
Quote:
the “endurance parameter ratio” D′/V F is especially important in determining the flexibility of the race pace that the athlete was able to choose intentionally.

may be a higher value is not that important if you are not competing at the pointy end of draft-legal events, for all other cases in triathlon CV (or T-Pace) seems to be the critical parameter.

Ale, thanks as always for your help. Got the upgrade athlete sorted out, there were three problematic files that were causing trouble.

I'd actually already shown the Triscore as bars in my chart, which is why I noticed that many of my activities weren't showing as they have a triscore of 0, and also 0 for CTL, ATL, Daniels, etc. On looking more carefully I realize that I'm only getting these metrics on bike rides and not on any swims or runs. The speed trace looks OK on the files I've looked at. I tried clearing out the speed channel in one of the files to no avail. I put in a manual running entry and again, a trisport of 0. The Trainingpeaks multisport PMC chart is picking up all these files. So a bit baffled.

The likely cause for TriSport being 0 in runs or swims with speed or distance&duration data is that Pace Zones are not defined for that date, you can use the same threshold paces defined for running and swimming in TP as CV in GoldenCheetah, but they must predate your the first activity, for more details look at: https://github.com/...ete_Training%20Zones

NB: if you create a new athlete in v3.2 this is done automatically based on the CVrun/CVswim you enter in the form, but when the athlete is migrated from previous versions you must define your first time Pace Zones manually since CVs are not available.

Awesome, I had defined pace zones but not for the past. The multisport PMC is now working great once I cleaned up a couple of wonky open water files. Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I tried to upgrade to 3.2 and now every time I open GC - it asks me to back up my files and do the upgrade as though I haven't done it. I have full admin rites, any idea what's going on?

When there are errors after the upgrade you are given the option to proceed to athlete to be able to fix them and the upgrade process will run again on the next start, until you fix all the errors and it completes successfully for the athlete.

Thanks for the help. Is there anyway for user to add their own trainers to the virtual power feature? I have 3 bikes, one power meter and I'm too lazy to move the PM from bike to bike (PM is an old wired PT and I have only one harness).

Not in the current version, there is a pending feature request (https://github.com/...enCheetah/issues/337), but it is not implemented yet.

Hi,

First, great update for us triathletes in the version 3.2.
Just one little question, is it possible to see something similar to CP for running and swimming as we can see in cycling?

yes.

Where you enter your CP, there is another tab called pace zones. You can enter threshold pace for the run and swim.

Sorry, I should have made myself more clear about the question.
What I was supposed to ask was a graph for swim and run like the graph with different watts / interval length for cycling.

Like for running you should have km on the x axle and then min/km on y-axle.

I would have to test more, but if I take a CP chart, change the Data Series to speed and set a filter of Sport="Run", it seems to work
Data seems to make sense, but I would have to double check it.

There is a CV chart similar to the CP chart: http://forum.slowtwitch.com/...post=5362616#5362616, pace units are selected as follows:
- in Activities according to the sport of the selected activity, also the mean-max curve is automatically filtered for that sport: swim selected => swimming units and curve, run selected => running pace units and curve, other sport no pace units and unfiltered curve.
- in Trends according to the sport of the involved activities: all swims => swim units, all runs => run units, combined => no pace units.

A new version (3.3) is entering the pre-release testing cycle, on the running side it includes initial support for Stryd and VDOT Calculation besides a simple tool (Fix Speed) to help fix weird values in the speed channel from distance with smoothing using a configurable moving average filter.

The VDOT part includes a little calculator:

And the possibilty to include VDOT/TPace metrics or the equivalent time for any distance from 1500 to marathon using the new formulas (vdottime function with VDOT and distance parameters) on any Metric Trends Chart to track performance evolution, including PMC as in the following example:

As always, since this is and open source project, testing, feedback and collaboration are welcome!

There are some chart samples using the new formulas at: https://github.com/...e/master/test/charts, for example:

To compute sTSS and to compare to SwimScore:

To compute (a proxy of) rTSS according what has been discussed here (http://forum.slowtwitch.com/...post=1730370#1730370) and to compare with GOVSS:

Plus other examples computing average stroke length, SWOLF, etc. To use the samples just Drag&Drop then onto GC main window.
