This is a bloke. Sorry. This is the president of the united states

This is a role that was revered

It was the most serious role in the world

This was the role that with Gorbachev ended (more or less) the cold war

But is now populated by a bloke who refers to media personalities on twitter as dumber than a bag of rocks

And what i love most is a huge number of people have no problem with that

My friends think i like to watch the world burn. This is hysterical

It's the "train wreck syndrome".

Rubber necking when you drive past a car wreck. Driving out to the airport to look at an airplane that crashed. The movie Titanic. The Atlanta Falcons in a Super Bowl.

Everyone is fascinated by a disaster.

I love Trump because . . . I like a president who loves his country, respects our soldiers and police, places the interests of America first, and who, among other things, can at least utter the words "radical ... Islamic ... terrorism".

If, along the way, he treats two loathsome twits on MSNBC and our corrupt, lying media like dirt, well, that's just icing on the cake.

We're making America great again, folks!

I like a president who loves his country, respects our soldiers

This is something I just don't get.

John Kerry served in Vietnam, received the Bronze Star and 3 Purple Hearts but was attacked by the Swift Vets for Truth. It was probably the reason he didn't become President. Many in the GOP were disgusted with what they claimed were exaggerations despite the fact that he served. A lot of the criticism came from Dick Cheney, who did everything he could to avoid war but that hypocrisy was lost as long as their side won.

Now, we have a President who during College, had an athletic build, played football, tennis, squash and golf. He never had any medical issues. When he graduated, he suddenly was diagnosed with bone spurs in his heels so was able to get his 5th deferment from going to Vietnam (his first 4 were for education).

Despite that "co-incidence" you now like him as President because of his love for the country and because he respects your soldiers?

Are you kidding?

I've asked you before to the sound of crickets in response, but I'll ask again....

When is this time when America was, holistically, so much greater than it is today that we must return to that time?

Beyond speaking in the platitudes of "great again" as a meaningless buzzword, what exactly is it that you're looking to restore to America? When exactly was it that we were at that time?

Because the way I see it, there has been a time where elements of America were better than those particular elements are today. But just the same there was a time, and perhaps the exact same time, where other elements of America were far worse than they are today.

That's just a natural evolution of every society...and the de-evolutions that come with it.

So beyond the platitudes -- what is it that you actually and tangibly want? And why?

Crucify me, but the jury is still out as far as I’m concerned. There's a lot to not like , but that has been true with every president. I never watched Donalds' shows before he became president, didn’t really care for him.
I am impressed with how much heat this guy can take. Haven’t met him face to face yet , if I did ,y 'awl wouldn’t know it anyways.
Do we finally have a president that is "out there" as much as the other world leaders? I don’t know, but he sure has their attention.
President Trump may just be just the mirror America has finally had to look in. Its' really about us.The sum greater than all the parts .

Did you mean to say "impressed with how much heat he can take?" I can't disagree he has taken a lot, but that saying usually has the distinction of "taking it well." Quantifiably, he most certainly has not taken it well. It's been a bit of a shit show so far. I think it, and by "it" I mean optics, can be turned around with some relatively minor tweaks.

I'm the opposite. I think he generates the heat because he has such a thin skin he attacks anyone who says anything remotely negative about him. I've never seen anyone so sensitive, particularly someone who was head of a successful company and of course now the President.

Well, keep in mind the First Lady's reminder: When a woman criticizes him, he'll hit back ten times harder, with insults about their looks, their intelligence, etc. That's not thin skin, man, that's old school toughness.

Your elite? Funny stuff, or as a Millennial "elitist" with his big 4 year degree would say, "LOL".

May I suggest you drop juvenile terms if you want to be considered elite? Part of the problem in this country is the immaturity of those under 40 who deem themselves to be intelligent, and "elite". Most can barely think their way out of a paper bag. Read most of the anti-Trump threads started by non-Americans. The threads are absolutely predictable. A non-American will post a rant about Trump and the same immature characters will jump in and opine about how the world is ending. Mean while, outside of the small little world these posters live in, the world is moving along, the economy is rolling, and Trump the hated is eliminating Obama's legacy. All the while the same posters over and over again can't get over the last Trump outrage they heard about on MSNBC.

ST is becoming boring. At least YaHey and Forge were interesting and entertaining. Now the entire Lav Room is one big circle jerk of the same posters over and over again.

Do you have a source showing where Kerry called a Vietnam vet a "baby killer".

He wasn't the second coming of Audie Murphy. He wasn't the only person to embellish his combat experience. After leaving the US Navy, he criticized the US policy in Vietnam. None of this makes him unique.

At any rate, an admin clerk pushing papers at an airbase in N Dakota during the Vietnam War spent more time in the military than Trump. It's ironic, to say the least , for Trump to criticize the military service of others like Kerry and McCain.

Did he say "Our troops are baby killers"?

He testified about free fire zones and killing prisoners. He pointed out the problems faced by veterans. I can't find a source showing that he called anyone a "baby killer".

They might dislike him but there seems like a lot of animosity, bordering on hatred, towards someone who served. Then, Trump comes along, did whatever he could to avoid going to war, and the same people say they like him because he supports the military.

The truth is that it really has nothing to do with serving or not serving, it has to do with one being a Democrat and the other a Republican.

I am not a fan of Trump... still waaay to big government for my taste.

But I have to hand it to him.

He crushed the Bush's and their establishment cronies

Destroyed the Clinton's and all their massive power with half the money

With the odds completely against him he is taking it to the corrupt/dishonest media before and after the election

Through attacks of him we are learning how deep and corrupt our powerful administrative state of our government has become

Homegrown/domestic. Tomato/tomahto

Domestic terrorism or homegrown terrorism is commonly associated with violent acts committed by citizens or permanent residents of a state against their own people or property within that state without foreign influence in an effort to instill fear on a population or government as a tactic designed to advance political, religious, or ideological objectives

source? might be dated, because I can think of two that would upend that: San Bernadino and Pulse in Orlando. Mostly I'd like to see by whom, and how, these events are classified.

ps I think SPLC classed every TEA party group as a "hate" group.

Excellent information. Do you have a source?

What constitutes a "hate group"? For example, is "Tea Party Nation" or "American College of Pediatricians" or "Family Research Council" or "US Border Guard/US Border Guard & Border Rangers" or your list of 1360?

Also, since the score is 39 to 26, can you identify the actual instances where these people were killed?

A lot of it came from SPLC.
They keep a hate group map, white power groups, black separatists, anti LBGQT groups, etc.
Dylan Roof shooting up the church in S. Carolina is an example.

Personally, I don't have the time to look up all the research you're asking for.

Funny considering the bigger threat is homegrown terrorist. Yet, he seems unwell to utter those words.

I do find it a little amusing that there is so much attention towards foreign born terrorists, with travel bans, rhetoric and fear mongering and relatively little attention paid to the murder rates in places like Chicago, Baltimore and just about every single large city in America.

If Trump wants to make America "Great Again", shouldn't he start there?

To be fair Trump has sent the "feds" into Chicago.

Take out the Google machine and type "Trump Chicago Federal". Then read any of the 20,500,000 hits. To be fair, you might know this better from asshat reporting on what Sarah Huckabee Sanders said. Because, yeah, asshats.

In a statement Friday, Shannon Watts, founder of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, criticized Huckabee’s comments as “tone-deaf” and “race-baiting,” comparing them to a controversial ad the National Rifle Association released earlier this week. Watts also accused Huckabee of ignoring reports showing that weak firearms laws in neighboring states have contributed to Chicago’s gun violence problem.

“Sarah Huckabee Sanders blew on that same dog whistle when she suggested that the morality of people in Chicago is the main cause of the city’s gun violence,” Watts said. “Let’s be clear about what she was really doing: she was questioning the morality of Black people. This is blatant racism. Coming from the highest office in our country, this is unacceptable. We all deserve better ― particularly the people of Chicago.”

From Politico

Adam Collins, a spokesman for Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, said on Friday that the city welcomed the additional agents, but noted the Chicago Police Department is already improving the gun violence problem. "Six months ago we made it clear that we would welcome additional federal support, and six months later we appreciate the 20 new ATF agents that are now arriving. But the progress CPD has made this year has happened without any of the new resources from the federal government we requested," Collins said.

You should have chosen CNN as your source. Not only do they have the above quote, but they also trace this initiative back to President Obama. Whew. Thanks, Obama.

Asked if Trump was right to take credit for this initiative, Kevin Navarro, first deputy superintendent of the Chicago police, responded, "These discussions with the superintendent [of Chicago police] have gone back to actually November. So, we have had two administrations that the superintendent has been dealing with in terms of getting extra assistance from ATF."

Find a new source, one that isn't tainted. One that does not use Fascist tactics to silence political opponents. One that is credible. Everyone outside of those who live on the far, way far left understand what the Southern Poverty Law Center has become.
