has anyone been experiencing issues with dropped connections between power control and power meter. I noticed when the connection is lost power control pairing to meter reflects "not connected"

Don't recall having this problem prior to me draining the power control battery all the way down one time the other week. It recharged all the way back up so not worried its a power issue. I thought possibly my meter was dying but when connected to my other meter still have the same intermittent problem.

Just plain weird. Maybe there's something going on in the airways out here in Cali?!?!

thanks in advance

Check you ANT+ reception strength;
Main menu-settings-sensors-Ant High Sensor
By default it’s off, try to see if changing it will help

Next option would be a soft reset.
Hold Pro-Mode-Set

It will restart but not delete your settings.
If not check the batteries in your powermeter/ sensors

I recently switched from Garmin to PC8 and am loving the device. One issue I have encountered is connection to my indoor trainer. I would like to use my Power Meter (SRM; Exakt) as power source and my trainer (Elite Direto) as speed sensor. The connection works and I know from the Garmin head units that you have to put a wheel cirecumference of 170mm in. I did this and did not get any speed. When leaving the default wheel size (2095mm), the speed was in the 400km/h range :). While this would increase my annual mielage, this is not ideal. Has anyone encounteree something like this in the past? Is this maybe a software restreiction re wheel circumference?

Why 170mm?

Apparently you have to divide to normal wheel circumference by 12.1 as that is what the trainer broadcasts via ANT+. It is not necessary for Software such as Zwift (works natively there) but is needed for head units. Worked perfectly with my Garmin 820 before.

here:

Download and install PC8 Device Agent off the SRM website http://www.srm.de/products/software/
1. hook up your PC8 and set it up FROM the PC8, it will save you having to do it in the Agent Software.
2. update any firmware, the software automatically will see if you need it
3. along the top headers; User Profile, Training Zones, Display, Settings, New, Logs SELECT Settings
4. along the sub category selection SELECT wifi
5.choose enable at the top then plug in the information SSID/Network Name and Password, select the enable dot at the end, don't worry about manually plugging in the IP address, Gateway etc
6. on the bottom right choose send to PC8
7. you can upload direct from the PC8 to TrainingPeaks, Strava etc just SELECT Upload in the same setting tab and choose what you want your PC8 to sync with
8. if you choose to sync with a cloud ensure you send the information to the PC8 in the right lower corner
9. Go to your PC8 and History-Rides-XXXXX (date) Select (SET) -Select (SET)-Upload..the first time will take a few longer to receive the information from you wifi for the settings.

Let me know how it goes, I'm going to bed, I'll check this in the morning to see how it went and if your need help still.
Note Bluetooth is not functioning yet, more than likely the upcoming firmware update

Hi, guys!

Just yesterday my PC8 started being a little weird with buttons. I did some intervals, and while going back home hit the MODE button to see the other pages and it was working, but working weird. I had to press it very firm and sometimes it just wouldn´t work. In the end I thought I was just too exhausted from going up and down a 8.1km 11.3% avg climb with temperatures varying from 32-40ºC and high umidity.

On my easy ride today, I thought of checking the zero offset screen. Pressed MODE + SET, nothing happened. Again for a while, the PC8 locked. Unlocked it, and thought of Hard reseting the PC8. Long pressed PRO + MODE + SET sometimes, and now I have some screenschots...

SET button isn´t working (it was yesterday), so I can´t Zero offset (I´m at sea level but will go back to 1000m this weekend) with the buttons or at the menu, and I can´t start/stop my intervals etc. Any thoughts? Umidity? Temperature? It didn´t fall or anything, and while not riding, totally covered from the sun.

Is there any way to HARD RESET the PC8 using the devide agent?

Thanks, guys!

There is a "total reset" from the SRM Forum moderator.

I HAVE NOT tried this:

My PC8 had to go back for service -- a new main board, when the GPS chip failed last month. My PC8 is two years old, so your problem could be a mechanical failure.

http://www.srmservice.com/forum/index.php

1) connect the pc8 to the computer
2) you see it as a usb disk. Navigate and delete the SRM folder
3) without disconnecting the pc8 press the 3 keys simultaneously until the message "battery ok" appears.
4) disconnect the pc8

Didn´t even have the chance to try it.

Was checking device agent and the PC8 froze on the USB CONNECTED - KEYS LOCKED display. It doesn´t matter if it´s plugged to the computer or the charger, or without the wire.

Far from home and no solution for tomorrow´s ride. Guess hill repeats will be by feeling.

Is it now possible to show Left-Right Balance, since the SRM Exakt pedals are out? And could the PC8 then also work with the Garmin Vector pedals?

Thanks

Stefan

It is possible, at least the PC8 shows left right balance with my Assioma pedals.
I think the PC8 implements the complete ANT+ protocol thus it should no have a problem with Vectors.

Yes here is a screenshot from SRM PC8 Device agent used to set it up

As far as the PC8 being able to read Garmin Vectors, as long as it's ANT+ it should be able to pick it up. The PC8 reads other than CTF now. As far as setting up the crank length etc, unsure. I only have a Powertap that I use occasionally on the trainer other than SRMs
