I'm new bike shopping at the moment, not being able to run my PC8 could be a big deciding factor.

It seems SRM have an answer for you: http://shop.srm.de/...handlebar-mount.html

that's cool!

i'm an SRM dealer and didn't know about that one. i can query SRM USA if interested.

Agree it's quite poor really. They advertise a unit with features that all this time later are still not available.

While I'm ok with the PC8, and tend to feel that SRM is at least better than Garmin, I think the cycling/triathlon market supports very weak products. It's a matter of time before some company comes in and eats everyone's lunch - not with "new technology," but with merely implementing current technology competently.

No, it's not, Garmin 510 is better than PC8. Just to mention, you can't record lap times in PC8.

Doesn't the 'Set' key do this?

Nope. You have to press the Set button twice. This button is intended for inervals, not laps.

Ah, ok, I see what you mean. Yeah, SRM have always had Intervals (i.e. start & finish points) instead of laps (a single point in time), rather like Polar has. Probably why Strava has problems with SRM .fit files.

Thanks for the link, all Japanese might make ordering fun, I'll see if i can email them.

I ordered mine from The Watts Factory in Oz, need to send back to NZ for any issues though. They are very good with warranty stuff, had a secondhand 7900 SRM previously that they fixed despite the fact i didn't buy it new.

The postage is nearly 40 euro on top of the already crazy price for the mount

cant find the link any more and don't have it in a price list, but wasn't it 75 or so? 75 + 40 = 150?

It's a super low volume item. From my own experience designing some products, sometimes there is a high number of hours that goes into designing something simple that is intended for sale. If it fails, people get angry. You can always make your own, as I did. Works quite well. I shared photos above. You have to spend a bit on materials and possibly tools....and then what is the value of your time? It was a fun project for me.

Just got my new PC8 on service. Previously, I was using Garmin edge 500. Does PC8 has any similar function as Garmin's "Auto Lap"? I did a lot criterium training at the park near my house. Garmin can automatic seperate my laps since I press the LAP button, but I can't find any similar function on PC8. Did I miss something?

no; the pc8 does not have that feature.

a software service like strava can split out your laps, but i'm afraid you cannot do that with the pc8.

Sounds like I have to press the SET button on pc8 whenever I finished a single lap...

actually, you'll have to press it twice; once to end the lap and a second time to start it. honestly, it is probably easier to do it after the fact in software.
