Wow, that 2009 olympic distance race run is way way impressive. 28:08 run time for a 4:31 pace. He must be the real deal. :)

His other times are good, but nothing fantastic, especially for his age.

What he is doing is "impressive" but nothing to have so many implying he is the greatest.

And yes, anyone can pay Guinness for a "world" record. Ken Hale has more than anyone at over 600 triathlons, but the "record" is a guy with
like in the 200's. Ken sees no reason to have to "pay" for his record.

.

Gosh there has to be some pro with close to 200 wins. How many wins does Chris Legh have in his career?

Hey someone can be doing something athletically and logistically astounding while scamming money. I'm not giving him any money so I won't pick on that. He is free to scam whomever wants to support his adventure. So do we have confirmation that he is run-walking today? I actually want to see this guy get back on the horse and get a few legit ones knocked off. Maybe he gets to 25 or even up to 33 legit IM's like Didier.

IF he truly did 33 WTC IM's that alone is a huge achievement. Each WTC IM requires something like 2-4 vacation days. That alone is 60+ vacation days, not to mention the money (then again, I think it is fine to spend a lot on tris...lots of guys spend way more on Audis or Ferrarris). I personally think that pulling off 30 WTC IM's in a year is physically demanding. There is a ton of travel across time zones to deal with pretty well every week (that's the story of my life) and layering IM's on top of all that travel is really tough. He might be a scammer and might be lose on rules, but he's a bit of an endurance freak by any measure

I thought most of them were HITS races...

I can't find the list right now, but I know there there were A LOT of WTC races.

All the big ones in the US for sure.

The 30 IMs in one year Guiness record is just plain weird. Its like he bought a "world record" to establish credibility.

He didn't buy it. His charity did. Do the math for fees and travel costs to estimate the total cost.

But it's all good. It wasn't for him. It was for awareness. Awareness, yeah, that's the ticket.

I thought if he did 30 WTC races internationally (that's pretty well the entire WTC list), then he'd be crossing time zones most weeks of the year and layering an IM on top. If he "kust stayed in the US" 30 in a year is still beyond impressive, just not as superlative as if he did them internationally having to cross 6 to 12 hour time zones and back every week or so.

I'm honestly just blown away by how delusional his supporters are... i can't tell if he's on the verge of running for political office or starting his own cult.

I think he's so popular with the masses because they can keep up with him on the 5k run.

Find out what it is in life that you don't do well, then don't
do that thing.

You are assuming he had a job. The way I heard it from peeps in Utah is that he was unemployed. He moved his family into his or his wife's parent's place. The family was getting government support. He set up a sketchy charity to aid Africa in some way. And it was away to the races. I don't have any first hand knowledge, but I heard this from multiple people who live in the same area (Lindon, Utah). No clue if he currently has a job. I just know I would not give this guy a bent nickel. It smelled from the beginning. If he was dopping his own coin on it then it would be different.

The link to the "Cowboy Fund" does not surprise me at all. Neither did the "Everyone give me a $100K so I can make a movie about this."

Utah is not known as the Nigeria of America for nothing.

He is the Bernie Madoff of endurance sports. First off, if you "donate" you are not giving directly to Jamie Oliver's foundation. There is no proof that he is going to forward funds or how much he will forward - there is no public disclosure from the clown. I am sure he is breaking some laws along the way in states that require charities to register to solicit funds. The IRS should dig deep on this guy. For those of you who believe, I say donate $500 or $1,000 and show my your donor acknowledgement letter from a registered 501c3 or from Jamie Olivers' foundation directly,

For a supposedly unemployed scrub, he's pretty good at riling up the natives on ST.

Yeah it's pretty sad. After seeing quotes like the two I posted earlier, I gave up on people following the group. He's going to get a lot of money from stupid people, but what can you do?

I am sure the IRS or Local tax authorities would be a start since he is selling stuff and collecting donations. He is stealing money. But people are lemmings and stupid, blinded by the inspiration. I may visit him tomorrow in GA and put the screws to his camp.

Might want to start with substantive evidence.

That's a great idea... i'm trying to find some substantive evidence that his charity is legit... so far i've come up with nothing... perhaps you have some proof?

The burden of proof is with the affirmative claims of fraud, sorry. On the other hand, you may want to figure out how to expose charities that are much larger with abysmal shares of spending on actual charity. ;)

So I haven't been following this too closely, but people say he is from Utah??? I thought he was from Calgary, why would some one from Utah have a tattoo of a Canadian flag (Socialist country ;-) on his leg? Also a few pics of him wearing a stampede (canadian) cowboy hat.

Yes, if you cared about actual fraud, instead of just wanting to feed your irrational desire to get one over this guy.

Exactly! Why foil a guy who's inspiring so many. I heard he was going to use these for the bike tomorrow:
