I would want to know how many more riders were showing up positive.
Hard to believe he was the only one who showed up positive. All depending who they tested and if that particular procedure was used for all racers.

I do believe in the "contamination" excuse. But I am more inclined to believe that it may be from a masking agent or supplement.

I'm not an expert so this might be a stupid question? if it was contaminated food, wouldn't some body else within the team tested positive too? (if anybody else was randomly tested, of course) Vino would be somebody the French/UCI/WADA or whoever could be interested in testing more than any of AC's helpers. He won a stage so I assume Vino was tested.

From memory they don't test everyone on the same team on the same day every day. The top three plus some randomly selected riders always get tested every day, then they pick out a few teams each day and test them. So if his story about contamination were true and his team got selected for testing that day, everyone would be positive.

Make an example out of him.

It must be from meat consumed in the USA(steroid legal). Steroids are banned from use in Europe for imported meats. At least the ones I am familiar with , beef and lamb.
The USA meat is full of steroids though so surprised you guys aren't growing tits. Guess your beef farmers lobby group is pretty strong. Alot of the steroids used for food are the female ones. Say a 10% protein increase from an injection is a a good ROI.
Probably the same idea Contador's managers had. 10% gain will win it.

Actually, you're probably wrong. Likely, he's toast!

Most teams have chefs, but again most don't actually cook all the time (differs rom team to team). They check the kitchen for hygiene, and only if it is bad do they step in. Otherwise they may just cook some special dishes that certain riders like. At any rate, anybody who has ever been in a team hotel will know it would be incredibly easy to contaminate somebody's food. Teams have coolboxes with food and drinks sitting out in the hallways, some of the food is in buffets, etc. This has always amazed me, especially since the consequences are so high. Not at all saying this is what happened here, I have no idea, but it's a scary profession to be in.

As for double standards for Li vs Contador, this may be due more to the greatly differing concentrations of Clenbuterol found than anything else.

The UCI made a statement saying the amount detected was only 50 picograms/millilitre, or 400x less than the required limit of detection
Why they would assist in defending Alberto is a little odd to me, despite the fact that they suspended Team Radioshack's Fuyu Li for 2 years after detecting 50-100 picograms/ml... Odd!
