I just got one of the new polished silver units. Bling bling! I wasn't sure I was going to like it, but I really do.

Is anyone using a PC8 with the Venge Vias? I bought the Vias mount that SRM make but its missing the part to attach to the stem- according to them Specialized provide this but my dealer has never seen nor heard of it. Have attached a pic of the single part they send.
Thanks

yes, i'm now using one. you were not supplied with the full piece; you are missing the part that goes between the ViAS stem and the part shown in your photo.

i'm traveling but will see if i can take a photo of the part's instruction manual by tuesday. please remind me if forget.

Has anyone else run into any problems with the time and date readings on their PC8? Mine is currently telling me it's the 24th of August at 10:01am when it should be saying Aug 27th at 10:26am. This is despite me having the GPS on and set at 1sec for the last two days and getting good satellite reception the last two days over a cumulative three hours on the bike.

I have talked to SRM CO many times about this and they are stumped. There has been a firmware upgrade mentioned that will allow manual setting of the date and time (as you could do with every previous generation of Powercontrols - I can't imagine why they didn't have this on the PC8 to begin with) but there's still no word on when it will be released to the masses.

Any ideas?

no idea, really, but just wanted to check that you did a hard reset of the device. i assume you did--best to check, though.

Yup - I've done that many times. This thing also has a problem taking a charge I think. Since my ride yesterday, I've had it plugged in to charge from my pc, and in 21hours of charging, the reported bettery level has only gone from 60% to 80%. I sent it in to SRM back in July to have the batteries checked out and they said they tested it and all was well...

Just a followup - I contacted SRM in CO and ran through my recent travails and they are shipping me out a new PC8 along with a return label to ship my current one back. I must give them credit. I have been an SRM user since 1998 and a customer of the CO office since they opened it up and their service has always been fantastic. They stand behind their product and, in my experience, never shy away from dealing with any issues.

Wifi in two months is the news from Eurobike. What do you think, June-ish? Bluetooth in 2018.

Yes, but for 20 hours you probably won't need it. I have recorded the whole Silver State 508 on one track by charging while I ride. I just finished a 16 hour ride using all sensors at the highest sampling rate and finished with 30%.

i generally see 2-3h of recording per 10% of battery life. i suppose this could vary depending on GPS signal strength or hunting for a signal...and whether the backlight is triggered (which could be a factor for a 20-hour event).

Has anyone had issues with the grade% accuracy, when on climbs i know for sure its in a range of say 6-8% but the control reports - grade readings. And the graph does not always align with power outputs.

I am pretty sure the grade report I'd GPS/altimeter based and reports the grade based off that and at a significant time delay. I don't find it reliable unless the grade is clearly consistant for a long time.

That's what I was thinking but wasn't sure. I disabled the screen as it was useless for real time.

End of October based on the bikerumor SRM writeup.

The PC8 will have a free firmware update in two months that allows for WiFi uploads of ride data to SRM X, Strava, etc.

The fact that the author used the term "free" had me laughing and rolling my eyes. Not sure if that was the authors or SRMs language... but I would love to see the shitstorm if SRM tried to charge for pc8 firmware enabling previously promised features.

To be honest I don't know if SRM will get there. We have already been burned once when SRM promised to turn on bluetooth in 2months (announced at 2015 eurobike).

The SRM PC8 was first announced almost two years ago, with an announcement that it started shipping earlier this year. Now, the company is prepping a major firmware update, with Bluetooth connectivity getting turned on sometime in September 2015 if all goes to plan. That’ll let it connect to the upcoming SRM app, but the usage benefits of that might need some time to be realized.
There’s also a WiFi a transmitter in the PC8, but it’s not activated yet. That’s something they’re working on, but the demand for the device was so high, they wanted to go ahead and start shipping them this past May with all the hardware on board, then bring new features online as they could. Eventually, it’ll download your ride data wirelessly and send it to the cloud…

They have never charged for any of the software or firmware so I can't see them doing it this time. I agree that the article had some curious wording.

My PC8 has been working well for the past few months, however today I connected to my laptop and it doesn't show up as a drive on my macbook for me to download the files. It shows as charging, however I can't download any files. The actual PC8 doesn't change to the USB connected screen either. Anyone have any ideas as to how I can fix this?

Try re-booting it. Hold all three buttons down for about 3-4 secs and it will enter the boot sequence. Follow it through and then re-connect it to your computer.

I have a problem with the GPS accuracy.
I am riding along side by side with my friends, but as you can see in the picture, I am far way leading at the front. (2 friends are stick together)
Can GPS be calibrate?

I've try changing the wheel size in PC8 (with 2111mm in the previous), but it doesn't seem to fix the problem
Any idea?
