1. You are judged by the company you keep. All the lawyers I know obey the tax laws meticulously, present company included. Chris G. always did, and I'm sure Messers. Katz and Roche do as well.
Maybe you need a better class of lawyers in your life.
2. If ML insists on his off-season hiatus, as far as I'm concerned, he's fair game.
3. Canadian Womens is grammatically proper on ST, everyone knows that.

0. and this is last year's thread. I think my logical brain will explode if this thread does not close out before the 2013 thread begins. (my AmZof weight thread from last week does not count.)
1. and not a single one of you is able to get me out of my New York State speeding tickets...... I need some *useful* lawyers in my life.

Since I'm moving to LC this year, it would be greatly appreciated if you would either not mark the trail again or mis-mark it for the lead men on thd first run. It would also be most appropriate to not have Oreo cookies with your daughter in the middle of the woods aide station. Maybe another ICB station there? You trust her right?

The only place to break the speed limit in NY is on the descent of Mohonk.
The NYS Trooper who was escorting the leader, Josh Beck, one year, actually had to pass other vehicles to allow Josh to maintain his speed. The trooper got a kick out of that, clocking Josh well over 50 mph.

That aint right. - funny, but no thank you - which is why I say - the climbs will hurt, the descents can kill.

Can you imagine crashing at 50+?

Imagining crashing at 50 mph is the leading cause of crashing at 50 mph. Put it out of your mind; be confident and have fun. But, do please check your brakes prior to racing.

There was one corner where a local crank removed a sign. Despite how much money the race raises for the Preserve, there are locals that actually think they're entitled to exclusive possession. I will do my best to mark the course "idiot proof". You'll just have to train harder - come on, it's not as if the temperature is below zero this morning. Oreos at the aid station were by popular demand, and the ICB station won't have as many spectators up in the woods. Sorry to shoot down all three ideas, but I'm happy to listen to others.

Love the Mohonk descent! The only other place I can break 50 is on Willow Grove Road, leaving Harriman. Inertia is a beautiful thing! Now, about my climbing skills...

Nope, but you can ask Ken Glah how it felt at IMLP many moons ago on the descent to Keene.

I almost crashed on that descent in 2010. Sudden gusts of wind and disc wheels / deep section front wheels over 50 MPH can be scary.
However, the Mohonk descent normally doesn't suffer the winds of the Keene descent and the Mohonk descent is not nearly as crowded.
Being a slower swimmer / faster cyclist, I had to pass hundreds of riders at Placid, and on that first decent passed 3 riders riding abreast with a draft marshal to their left, forcing me to pass in the narrow gap on the painted line on the right of the marshal and the left of the three riders. The marshal flashed me a card and I took a stand down at the next penalty tent, but at least I didn't hit my brakes at 50+ mph.

I am planning on holding my driver license in between my teeth... just in case :-/

The entire event (IM) is like "death by 1000 cuts" and the best race is minimizing all those cuts and losing less blood than the other guy. - Dev

Nope, but my manhood is still intact. I'm sure the "girls" at coupon poker night are impressed!!

Trust me - My manhood is intact because of what I do "outside of this sport".

This game is my break from reality (but you know that as it is for you). Having 2 mugs (a third this year) from the AZ DU is kinda nice at this game we play for an old guy like me. Not to mention - beating Canadian women IS impressive :). They are better than you think.

See you soon.

The descent of Whiteface can be pretty fast/hairy as well, especially from the toll booths down. Since riding it with Dev and the ST crew a few yrs ago it has become an annual ritual IMLP weekend. Last yr I almost launched due to a frost heave. Almost as bad as the way Greylock was before they repaved it.
I believe you were there as support crew becuse you were racing LP that yr.

That descent of Whiteface is insane and makes Mohonk seem like nothing. I did it in the cold and wet with Murphy's Law, Burnman and Chris G. during Dev's Epicman 2010.
The stupid human trick was to ride out to White Face from Placid, do the climb and ride back the evening before Epicman.
I was racing in 2010 so I did not join you all for the ascent the day before the race, but couldn't resist driving out to catch you all.
The frost heaves on Whiteface are deadly. I don't think I'll ever descend it again on a time trial bike.

Having AZ mugs from the CWD is surpassed only by having AZ mugs with Canadian flags in them.

Oh wait, what else is that? Yup.... it's an American Duathlon Nationals mug with a Canadian flag in it. ;)

I see no problem with a state flag in the mug. Canada is the 51'st state - correct?
