6.25 miles first mile at 8:30 next 5.25 miles at 7minute mile on dreadmill at work. Not my regular shift.
I was supposed to do 10 miles but pesky careless cooking call got in the way. I will get the other 4 in later today. Might as well make it a double now :0)

15.6 miles this morning mostly in the dark. Did get some pix towards the end of my run. The local track is buried under all of that snow. Those of you who get a AmZof ass kicking in May should recognize the ridge of pain. I am planning on hauling the kids up there for a little skiing later this afternoon.

Hey, it sounds like your ankle is better....good news. Speaking of tracks, I was thinking about packing down the 400m track buried in snow with my snowshoes and using it for intervals (with snowshoes). I figure I should also pack down a 200m loop as the times might be similar to 400m on dry land!

Country road 9-miler with some old friends this AM. It was a timed workout, but I couldn't resist stopping to take one picture.

Alright people, after much work, I've finally put myself in the top 100. So, here's the deal... Anyone who has 19 or more runs cannot run until tomorrow. Hear that? All of you over-achievers should take it easy for the rest of your Saturday night (seriously, get a life outside of running). You can pick it up again on Sunday morning.

Take a short break from ST and read my blog:

Earlier today I was the closest ever to the top 100 but that bitch Sally keeps knocking me back down. :) I'm not going to check now because I'm likely back to 120s but it was exciting seeing 107 after my run this morning.

Snowshoe intervals... wow.

The ankle is doing OK, stiff and a little weak but seems to be holding up OK for the slow stuff.

4 and change recovery run this morning.

Hey guys, can some of you take your phones out for the next few runs and snap some pictures of your local running environment?

Just got back from Puerto Rico...where I ran every day thank you...Without seeing your request, I had already taken my camera with me, took this picture and thought, "What an awesome first run for 2013!" Then I also thought, "I need to post this on ST to make everyone jealous!"

That is a awesome picture. I am jealous!
A easy Dreadmill ( and I mean easy.) run at work followed by a 31 monute roller ride and another 32 minute roller ride a half hour after. Was going to do a double but didnt want to push the mileage to much. Think i am at 43-44 miles this week.

Glad to hear the ankle is OK.

I packed a loop that is around 250m and another one that is 500 m on the local golf course and today I ran some intervals on that with snowshoes. Actually total run was 57 minutes with half on treadmill indoors and the second half hammering with snowshoes on the golf course. I suppose if I was smarter, I could have made each sessions a few minutes longer and take a break in between and get a "double" in, but it was a continuous run aside from a change of clothing and putting on the snowshoes (time for that obviously does not count and I only counted actual running time with snowshoes). Effort just to keep running is above 10k race pace effort, so I end up running a bit, then walk then run then walk....walking time not counted either :-(. Hard way to get very few kilometers. My hip flexors and upper quads are toast from all the lifting! Nothing like penalizing youself with weights on your legs, but it really is a nice way to run in the winter.

after 4 days without any exercise, yesterday i managed finally got back in the saddle, or back in the shoes to be more accurate. ran a very slow 7 miles or so on my favorite local it-has-everything route (trails, asphalt, little hills, big hills, etc. etc.). feeling even better today, so hope to start getting back to where i'm supposed to be both with training overall and 100/100 in particular. a bit intimated to read that a friend of mine just got 2nd overall at his first ever 50k over the weekend .... so glad i got those doubles in early.

OK....there was a miniscule upside to getting sick over the holidays. I don't have a weighing scale at home (only at work). I weighed it at 6 lbs lighter than before the holidays. No wonder my hill intervals on the treadmill feel easier, and no wonder my bike wattage is also down....

Tomorrow is day number 25. If you guys can post some pictures from your 25% "there" run, that would be great.

Did a 6 mile interval run. Rest pace was 7:24 minute miles and intervals were at 6:28 minute miles.........this is geared to me getting under 20! it actually felt a bit labored today but i am getting off of being sick. Which speaking of after a bad night of the flue and taking the day off every muscle was sore and i then got a head cold also. So I could not sleep and took some sudafed the next morning. Well that stuff is like speed/crack. I could not stop running. In fact it felt like my heart was going to explode if I did!! Well took it once and now three days later it feels like it is still in me but starting to wear off. NEVER AGAIN!! Better off feeling sick. I feel tainted like Lance now although I did admit to it :0)

took my inspiration from you ... though not quite matching your workout ... 2nd workout for me after being sick. 4x (3min intervals @ 6:27/mile, then attempt to recover for 3 mins @ 7:30/mile), but had to cheat on a couple of recoveries for the first minute. wish i could have done your workout - great stuff.

Lets get this thread back on the front page.

10.6 mile "general aerobic" run this morning. It is getting warm enough again that the skunks are out and about, I just about stepped on one this morning.

I am scheduled for a 16m / 10m @ MP on Sat. Not really looking forward to that one...

This is what I got to do hill repeats on last night. The people around my neighbourhood apparently don't believe in salting the sidewalks.

Looking up my street from the end of my driveway - it's a small crescent, so we seldom get plowed or salted, and we don't have sidewalks.

Found a patch of clear pavement!

Thanks for the visuals of your "obstacle course footing" for the hill repeats.

I hope everyone is doing well going through day 25 and has high motivation. I have to say, I am having difficulty getting the runs in as I have been doing more classic XC skiing, and there are only so many hours in a day and trying to make extra time for running is getting harder.....the reality is that I can run all year, but can only do winter sport in the winter.

Nevertheless, I have upped my target to 100 runs from the original of 80. I am behind by a couple and I think if nothing else the mental exercise of trying to get it all done pays during racing, when things get tough....you know that many times in training, you had to call on your mental fortitude to just get to the start line of a given workout. As we all know, once we get to the start line of a given workout, the workout itself is much easier than battling day to day life to make room for that start line. It is no different than racing. You get to the start line of a race, and you did all the hard work. Once it gets hard in racing, you know that it is not as hard as the journey of getting to the start line, and it makes the pain a lot more tolerable.

So on that note, I'm heading over to the start line of today's run.

I've got 18 runs in 25 days

A shade under 2/3 = 67% = 67 runs of 100

I'm shooting for a consistent 3 days On/1 day Off routine by the end of the Challenge which would put me at 75 of 100

I gotta put my head down and charge this week then we'll be back on track

While I increased my goal to 100/100, my real goal is 1000k in 100days. I am currently around 15K behind the total I need to be at today. A few of those runs with snowshoes on really killed my mileage total.
