Good stuff , Hass are best type but the beacon type are the size of a beer can . When ripe they are very good ,smashed into guacamole with salt / maybe sour cream ( if you need a fix ). Some of my best memories are Mex. food and a few margaritas / a bowl of guacamole .

You will be full before you get fat on them.

It is energy rich - but this does not correlate to eating fewer calories. I think we are speaking about 2 different things - palatability and digestion time versus overall calorie intake.

There are numerous studies which show that when subjects eat the same foods and the fat content is covertly manipulated, the outcome is the the people eating the higher fat diet consume more calories.

It is harder to control your calorie intake on a high fat diet.

Furthermore, when subjects ate a large nonfat salad at the beginning of a meal they consumed fewer calories at that meal and at their next meal and throughout the day. When they ate a salad much higher in fat at the beginning of the meal they ate more calories at that meal and for the day.

There is also a neat satiety index from Suzanna Holt, a researcher in Australia - it shows that a lowfat high fiber potato has a higher satiety index than a high-fat croissant. The researchers in this study found that the higher-satiety foods, which are lower in fat and energy density, helped people eat fewer calories at that meal and subsequent meals.
