Dan's mentioned before that Hed used narrow flange hubs to reduce the frontal area of the spokes. It makes sense that a 60+mm deep carbon wheel could use a different hub than an Open Pro box section rim.

This should lead to a new topic on the forum…old tri bikes that you still have and/or ride! Great to see.

If you ever want to sell it let me know. I would love to have one in my triathlon center/bike fit studio as a look back into tri history.

This is a new set of wheels. I had a set of 60mm front and rear. I do remember the wind!

I stopped racing at age 75. Health issues! Foremost among the issues was A-fib. I read that many endurance athletes end up with this condition.

Yes, I would be interested in selling the bike. I am 81 years old now. I am in the process of selling all of my triathlon equipment.
All proceeds go toward sending underprivileged youth to a local triathlon camp.

A complete description of the bike is as follows:
Quintana Roo Private Reserve bike. Built by Dan Emfield for 1997 Ironman at Kona. Still like new, aluminum 55mm black frame. All Shimano Durace components. Original set of wheels plus HED 90mm rear and 60mm front. Sew up continental tires. Asking $900 + shipping from Pennsylvania

Wow, yes, I like to get it.
Are you able to put it in a bike box, maybe from a local bike shop?
I need approximately weight and dimensions to see what shipping is.
I think it will be about $ 300-400.

Lets proceed directly to see how we van make this work.

Great, we actually have a local bike shop down the street that has shipped for us before. We'll get a weight and the info. from them regarding shipping costs, and let you know.
Or, if you have a good shipping deal with a service, and can send us a label, that's also a possibility.
