Exactly! I did the test for my own curiosity a few weeks ago. I didn't know what the possible answers were, was as honest as possible and the description was extremely accurate. As I said earlier I am INTJ too and I'm a PhD student in Mech. Engineering. One of the first career listed for INTJ-T was mechanical engineer!

INTJ or INFJ, depending on how I'm feeling..

software engineer, it was great when I just had to write code and fix code, now I have to do politics with teams of people on different continents and I hate my job.. but am addicted to money which I need to pay kid's college bills, what can you do.

it is curious there are so many intjs reported here, not sure I've ever met another intj in real life.

INXS.

That's how everyone outside the sport thinks we train.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Confirmation_bias

Quote:
A series of psychological experiments in the 1960s suggested that people are biased toward confirming their existing beliefs. Later work re-interpreted these results as a tendency to test ideas in a one-sided way, focusing on one possibility and ignoring alternatives. In certain situations, this tendency can bias people's conclusions. Explanations for the observed biases include wishful thinking and the limited human capacity to process information. Another explanation is that people show confirmation bias because they are weighing up the costs of being wrong, rather than investigating in a neutral, scientific way.
Confirmation biases contribute to overconfidence in personal beliefs and can maintain or strengthen beliefs in the face of contrary evidence. Poor decisions due to these biases have been found in political and organizational contexts.

Strong intj
I am only into cycling but certainly the solo training is a definite magnet
For us.

Didn't expect to see so many here, the experts usually say it is hard to find a place with many intj, they don't have to go far to look now.

INTJ here. IMO, Slowman should throw up a proper poll to the right. That would be fun.

Being an INFJ I am pretty curious as to the type of person that finds themselves doing triathlon. I like the Myers-Briggs categorization and find it to be fairly accurate. I thought it would be fun to gather a sampling of individuals on ST to see how things would shake out.

I did find an older poll on BT...

Interesting, thanks for sharing as I'm studying my Masters in Educational Leadership and this has some direct links.

I'm a ISTJ, BTW.

INTJ

PhD in Engineering + MBA, working in supply chain strategy.

Not a shock. Numbers are my friend, and I enjoy my thinking quiet time, on the trainer, on a long run, or at work.

Cheers,
Sam

I'm INTJ too. There seem to be a lot of us, but we are not necessarily representative of triathletes. We are a sub-group who "socialise" via forums, which may be a marker for introversion (=I). are willing to consider questions like this (=T), and reply decisively (=J).

lol at all the people who think this stuff is nonsense.

Anywho, I'm an ISTJ. Par for the course, seems like. Also a choleric sanguine.

By the way, go to woot.com, go to the t-shirt page, and search your MB type. They have a shirt for each one. Hilarious.

I'm an INTP or ENTP, as my E/I preference is pretty much down the middle, but if had to choose which description fits me best, it would be the INTP. Regarding the various responses on this thread so far, I'm puzzled why so many of you are Js rather than Ps, espec those who are scientists or engineers. The P preference means you're always looking for more info before making a decision, and put decisions off until you have to make the decision. In my mind, this is the best way b/c then you have the most info with which to make your decision. I have no problem making small decisions, like what to eat if go out to dinner, but prefer to gather my data before making bigger decisions. OTOH, I have spent a lot of time on USAF active duty where they expect fairly fast decisions, so I can make decisions fast if needed, but just prefer to take my time if feasible.

I'm another INTJ. I've never gotten any other type. Makes sense for me as I work in geographic technology, have no grasp at all of small talk (just tell me what you want lol) and hubby reckons I've got no emotions even though I'm of the opposite gender!

I'm in no way an alpha type person but I like to be challenged and I feel that there is always something new to learn and aim for in triathlon. The best part of it is no one has to be stuck hanging out with me as training and competing can be done individually :)
