For every conservative who destroys their coffee maker, two liberals will now step up and buy one. We have one but use refillable cups to help the environment in a tiny way rather than use disposables which from what I'm reading here is not their business model. I don't think this will hurt their sales at all, in fact, they may even see a short blip upwards.

It looks like NFL ratings are already back on the rise FWIW.

You may be right about a bump in sales.

I'm going totally non-political here.

Isn't this email by the Kuerig CEO the most vomit-inducing corporate lingo spew anyone's ever seen? I don't have a Keurig, but I'm about ready to go buy one then go Office Space on it after reading this pile of shit.

(emphasis mine on the bolded corporate-spew)

Quote:

You are likely aware that Keurig became the focus of some media attention over the weekend related to a tweet issued from our official Twitter account on Friday. The tweet announced the withdrawal of advertising from “Hannity” in response to comments made on his program last week that were viewed as controversial by many of our consumers. This is to provide you with full transparency on the situation, our lessons learned and our path forward.
Like most consumer-oriented companies, Keurig’s media purchases are driven by delivery of ratings for our target consumer audience. We also have a defined set of programming guidelines to ensure we deliver our advertising in the right programming environment and protect our brand from objectionable content.
The fact is, our consumer demographics match well with live news programming, which is why we advertise on nearly all cable news channels, ranging from MSNBC to Fox to CNN, all of which will continue. However, given the dynamic nature of news, we always need to evaluate that programming environment on a real-time basis.
The catalyst for the current situation was commentary made by Sean Hannity on his TV and radio programs last week, which sparked a significant number of consumer complaints directed to us as advertisers on his TV program. Hannity himself later apologized for his comments in his own tweet: “As I said on TV tonight, I apologize when I misspoke and was not totally clear earlier today.”
In most situations such as this one, we would “pause” our advertising on that particular program and reevaluate our go-forward strategy at a later date. That represents a prudent “business as usual” decision for us, as the protection of our brand is our foremost concern. However, the decision to publicly communicate our programming decision via our Twitter account was highly unusual. This gave the appearance of “taking sides” in an emotionally charged debate that escalated on Twitter and beyond over the weekend, which was not our intent.
I want you to know the decision to communicate our short-term media actions on Twitter was done outside of company protocols. Clearly, this is an unacceptable situation that requires an overhaul of our issues response and external communications policies and the introduction of safeguards to ensure this never happens again. Our company and brand reputations are too valuable to be put at risk in this manner.
The nature of social media and the internet news environment is that stories like this explode, and generally do not disappear quickly. Given the circumstances, we wanted to reach out and communicate with you directly so you understood our position and the protocols we have in place.
I apologize for any negativity that you have experienced as a result of this situation and assure you that we will learn and improve going forward. As we all know, the external environment is changing rapidly. We need to dial-up our speed and responsiveness to stay ahead of these developments and we will.

I was thinking that if Keurig wanted to convince everyone of it's sincerity it would just stop advertising on any political opinion show, no matter the network.

I would pay to see that. Even if they didn't donate the proceeds to charity.

Our local waste management company recently told people to stop throwing the compost friendly ones in with the compost because it was too difficult for them to easily identify which were which so they all end up in waste anyway.

So the waste management company doesn't really want to manage waste? :-)

I’m a Boulder liberal and I try to avoid CNN too. It’s not that it’s fake news it’s just over the top headlines and everything written like there should be three exclamation points after it. I don’t need the extra drama. It reads like a tabloid.

I now try to give my traffic to CBS News, ABC News, NBC News, BBC and NYTimes.

The headline writers for both CNN and FOX seem to be heavily invested in anti anxiety med companies and use their jobs to pump their investments.

The old 3 network news organizations do seem to be much better sources right now than CNN/Fox/MSNBC.

I've noticed CNN has a lot of actual eye rolling and on purpose tsking and dismissive tone on a lot of things. Fox is full on 'well, what about' this unrelated topic or just completely ignores stories and acts like they haven't happened. And well, Chris Mathews, and even more so Maddow and the other guy who's name is escaping me right now are pretty obvious in their bias.

I'm beginning to think that we are much more fucked than I thought.

I was watching CNN this morning and it showed the long drawn out introductions in the Sessions Congressional hearing. The introductions were nothing but hot air and it was going to take at least a full hour.

I turned the station to Al Jazeera and heard about the earthquake in Iran/Iraq, an in-depth look at the situation going on between Saudi Arabia and Lebanon, an analysis of the involvement of Iran in Lebanon and Yemen, a story about Italy failing to qualify for the World Cup, a story about the Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar a quick story about the latest Moore allegation and a note that Sessions was being questioned by Congress.

In other words, one is an actual news channel and the other is CNN.

No, Hannity fans are happy with Keurig again. You'll have to sell it to a Liberal who says that Keurig is pro-rape.

But hey, the timing on these allegations is pure confidence, right!

The timing of the allegations makes perfect sense. When people rise to power they are far more likely to be investigated, that's the way things go. You would expect for example, the the life of a factory worker wouldn't come under the same scrutiny as the President of the U.S. Moore is close to becoming a Senator, so investigations into his personal life including prior accusations and cover ups are going to come to light.

It does beg the question though and that is why on earth would you defend him?

Let's see what the differences between Clinton and Moore are.

1. Clinton lied about it and then admitted it with Monica.
2. Clinton Paid out in the neighborhood of $800,000. to one of his accusers
3. None of them have been 40 years old.
4. How did the media treat Clinton and his accusers?
5. Regarding the Monica shit, back then my comments were to the affect that anyone who has their fingers on the nuclear button, I'm good with them doing whatever they can to relive their stress.

I'm not sure why I wasted my time responding, I'm sure you won't have any comment worth reading regarding how the powers at be have handled the women who are making the accusations and the person being accused.

Conservatives need to stop defending Moore. They need to aggressively investigate the allegations and then get rid of Moore if any of this holds water. I think there is enough there already that he should be gone.

Every time a conservative argues that this is a political attack, that the timing is suspect, that Clinton was worse, or that the process is unfair (all true), they are taking the side of a creep and become guilty by association. Rush Limbaugh arguing about door locks will be remembered by everyone as a defense of Roy Moore and his creepy teen dating (with mom's permission) -- no matter that he claims he was just exploring the facts. In fact the only "facts" that Rush, Hannity, and many local conservative talk show are examining are those facts that would exculpate Moore.

Democrats must be gloating that some conservatives could be so foolish as to line up with Moore on this. Bannon is cooked. He may think he can walk back the plank (hence publishing leaks in his own paper that he might ditch Moore), but it is too late. He has been defending a creep, and potential pedophile, too long.
