FIFY.

Hey, look on the bright side; at least it's not a buried penis amirite or amirite? ;-)

If I was spending that sort of money on a sports car, I'd rather get something like a Nissan GT-R or Porsche 911 Turbo S. Still wicked fast but its also a high performance racing car. And you feel like you get some quality and engineering for your buck.

If attractiveness and WOW! factor were left up to only folks from around Motown, which loves it some American Muscle, the Demon would crush that rice-burning GT-R and wiener schnitzel-eating sissy boy 911 Turbo S. ;-)

This is muscle. Good to have in a bar fight (or to win a world war ;-). Can work all day and party all night. It'll even help you move that big couch from your old apartment to your new one.

This is muscle, too:

Street legal yes, but the fastest time is held by a McLaren hybrid vehicle (didn't have a front plate, not street legal).

The second fastest time is held by a Chinese electric car.

The Focus RS is a hoot. Been exercising the traction control in the snow over the last couple of weeks... it's good fun to see how far you can hang the tail out before the computer decides it's had enough. While you can destroy pretty much any street car at the lights (except for electrics ;) ) one really good thing is that even in the blue colour, it seems like only car people recognize it for what it is, which means you don't automatically get checked out by every cop you happen to encounter.

Less is more.

How about this one? 800 hp and 1800 ft-lbs, 0 to 60 in 1.79 sec, 1/4 mile in 9.89 @ 140.6.

I think you can do "muscle" with electric and there will be a market for it. I know I like to go fast, I don't really care how I get there. :-)

There's an old saying: "There's no replacement for displacement." Glad to see that Detroit (well, Detroit and Italy ;-) still gets that. Engine is a 6.2 liter mill with a 2.7 liter supercharger (up from the 2.4 liter version in the Dodge Hellcat). If you run pump gas, you're going to see "only" 808-hp and 717 lb-ft of torque. You need to try it. I have mentioned before, I have a VW Golf R, Stage 3+, that just hit the dyno at 505 awhp. I race it at Road America. I also take it to Tail of the Dragon every year and autocross race it. It is a blast.

That said, I have a Challenger Scat Pack with a few minor mods. It is fun as hell to drive. There is no replacement for displacement.

1) VW question. Are you SCCA? I've been away from that world for a long time so don't know the current classes.

2) Dodge question. But can it brake or corner? That's historically been the problem with big blocks.

1. Not yet. Next season.

2. Brake - yes. Corner - kinda. I have front and rear braces, which made a huge difference. Still, not even a little bit like the Golf R. I cannot imagine taking it on Tail of the Dragon, but I see a number of guys give it a try. The Golf R blows away the Challengers on twisting roads like that.

Have you ever heard of the "Boss Hoss" motorcycle. A guy in our area has one. A guy in the states dropped a 345 bhp Chevy V8 into a Harley frame and sold about a thousand of them. Fastest thing on two wheels in a strait line but can't brake or make it through the corners. Its interesting to me that Americans always want to be the fastest down the quarter mile whereas as Euros are quite willing to sacrifice brute power for better balance on the road course.

Oh c'mon CG, you know better. The boss hoss is a Chevy v8 but it certainly isn't in a Harley frame. And it isn't the fastest in a straight line. 1/4 mile or top speed. It makes a ton of power, but cant hook up and weighs 1100+ lbs. It's a joke.

I do not have data on this but I would say that the average female driver and or passenger in a Tesla is going to be much better looking than that of a Demon or any Dodge Muscle car for that point.
Lots of Telsa's here in So Cal for me to have formulated that opinion. But I could be wrong.

The Tesla is the science nerd's or Silicon Valley nerd's idea of what a hot muscle car is supposed to look like. My attorney has a Tesla S. And he confessed to me that he used to get beat up every day at recess back when he was in grade school. ;-)

It's like the difference between an Olympic 100 meter sprinter and an Olympic marathoner. They don't call the gold medal-winning Olympic marathoner "the world's fastest man." They give that title to the gold medal-winning Olympic sprinter, who's usually far more famous and world-renowned. ;-)

What an awesome time we live in for muscle cars. 600 plus hp in cars that steer, brake and get 25 mpg life is good.
