I've been offered a very fair price for a Cervelo P4 which is 2cm smaller than my road bike (58). Is there a general rule about Tri bike sizes in comparison to road bikes? I'm wondering what is the likelihood of getting a good fit. This also involves a 4 hour round trip to see and perhaps purchase the Cervelo,
Thank you,
Pat
I'm not expert on fit, but pros seem to like bikes that are much smaller than one would expect. They then slam the stem as low as it can go and get longer stems for their fit.
A few years ago, I bought a used 51 P5 from a TDF team and the guy's name is still on the frame. He's something like 6'1" and I'm only 5'5". I even had to cut the seat post down a bit to fit me. He already had the stem as low as could go so I couldn't raise the bar any higher. Fortunately I got used to the position and most people think I look nice and aero on the bike.
My guess is you will be fine with the bike.
