I'm a few years into my triathlon career. Ive done sprints, an Olympic and now next season I would like to do my first Half Ironman.
I'm planning my first half marathon this coming November. I'm more than likely planning another half marathon for the spring, either late april or early may.
I am trying to figure out how to set up my season as far as training goes.
My probable season schedule would be as follows.
May 20-sprint
June 10 - Olympic
July 15- Olympic
August 26- HIM
I have come up with two options, I'm sure there are plenty of others.
1. Set up the season as two A races. Train for the June 10 Olympic without giving much thought to the August HIM. Then once that race is over. There are 11 weeks to shift to HIM training.
2. Set up the season completely around the Half, using something like an 18-20 week program starting some time in april.
Pros and cons of each?
Am I completely overthinking this already?
