I would like to compare two power files (quarq vs kickr)......what program can I use to lay the two graphs on top of each other?

Golden Cheetah is great for this.

It's not a feature I've ever felt like I've missed TBH.
If I'm not comparing 2 entire files it's easy to create intervals within the ride file and compare them instead rather than the whole file if syncing is an issue.

For more advanced analysis as suggested by Robert you can use R embedded in GoldenCheetah.

I'm confused...are you're saying that it doesn't have a synch function, but just plots data vs. time/distance? Dozens of programs do that.

Which is exactly what the OP asked for so I suggested one that might be of use.
Perhaps you could help him out too by listing some of the dozens of programs that also might help him, other than Excel which you mention, so he can make an informed decision.
