I recently purchased a 10 speed sram red group with the red yaw front derailleur. The group came with the r2c shifters but not the yaw version. Is this a problem and if so what is the easiest remedy. I have not been able to readily find the needed information on srams website and the part numbers on their PDFs for both products are the same but they claim they are different

I would put the bike together and see if they shift properly.

I doubt it will be an issue. Yaw refers to the way the FD moves not to how much cable is fed, which I believe to be the same for yaw and non yaw FD.

Why would SRAM sell a yaw and non yaw version of the same shifter

They work fine together, I run the same setup

Marketing BS. If you go to Sram's web site the manual for both is exactly the same, as well as the spare parts.

The yaw version of R2C only has 2 position on the front mech, either small ring or big, the non yaw R2C has 4 positions for when a non yaw mech is used so you can trim the front mech to stop chain rub,non yaw R2C will work fine with a yaw mech

Okay so now knowing that it will work fine will I need to shim it in between shifts or will it do it automatically like the yaw version. And I'm not sure if my question is entirely clear the way I have it worded. I guess what I'm asking is will I have to shim it with that version to avoid chain rub

Makes sense--I have the non-yaw version 10 sp R2C as well, I can trim it on the small ring, or when in the large ring. The trim actually works fairly well when I need it. Not sure if Di2 does auto trim or if it is designed so well they don't need you to trim anything while riding...

I just wanted to update this post. I trust what you guys are telling me 100% And I'm going to go with it but I had to laugh when I called slam about another part that I needed I inquired about the shifters and they told me they do not function the same and there is differences even though they share the same part number and all the same components.lol
