Registed for IM Coeur d'Alene the other day and now I'm trying to find a good place to stay. Flexible - Coeur d'Alene is about a 12-14 hour drive away for me, so towing the 5th wheel isn't out of the question. Just wondering if there's a hidden gem that's close to the start line and won't cost us a first born and then next 2 years wages.

I haven't camped there so I can't comment on that, one motel very near the start that has rooms is the Resort City Inn- it's not fancy but it's right downtown and it's less than $200/night

There are some real nice RV parks along the river close to the swim start. Check out Trip Advisor.

Blackwell Island RV Park is where people I know have stayed during the race. Race day might be a chore to get a truck in and out of though...that seems to be the worst traffic area on the course; 2-way bike, 2-way car just after a narrow 2-lane bridge.
