I've seen this scene used so many times I can't count for various satirical purposes, but have to confess I've never seen the original or even know what movie it's from. Can someone fill me in?

The movie is called, 'Downfall'. About Hitler's last days.
And it is excellent, one of the best historical WWII films ever made. Trailer:

Stumbled across this on page 350 of the LetsRun thread (I was skipping 50 pages at a time!). Pretty funny.
=====================
I made some changes in the lyrics although I didn't re-record. Sadly, "You're just too good to be true; I can't take my eyes off of you" was taken.
http://picosong.com/xsci/
You got your Mike and you got your Kip.
Organized races? That’s how you slip.
You have to do something, you can control.
Here’s how you do it. Drum roll?
Pick a big target, say coast to coast.
Post it on Facebook, make sure you boast.
Talk to the papers, the Mail and the Sun.
Tell them of all the miles you’ve run.
Find lots of races, many not real.
No one cares, wins you can steal.
Build up those miles, build up your fame.
Build up you ego. And live with no shame.
Now you've got people talking about you,
All excited about what you will do.
You control the data, that is the key.
Only show what you want them to see.
Get you a sponsor, How about Skins?
Hook, line, and sinker, when you speak of your wins.
Now you are ready, how can you fail?
But a warning, you might end up in jail.
Head to California, get an RV.
Someone else pays, it’s always free.
With like-minded scammers, start heading east.
Savor the joys of your moveable feast.
Post on the web, how things are going.
People will believe, no way of them knowing.
So our event, it began per our plan.
We kept posting the miles I "ran".
Alas Mike and Kip, what did I do?
I made the mistake that caught each of you.
I failed to account for the LRC sleuths.
Who had a keen sense about running truths.
Those Yanks, they are an inquisitive bunch.
They keep digging if they have just a hunch.
And dig and dig until they find gold.
And expose each of the lies they were told.
I was posting my splits, some were bizarre.
No way to do it, too fast and too far.
And my history, left little room for doubt.
It didn’t take Miss Marple, to figure it out.
When I began, I wan’t quite fit.
To get the record in a way that’s legit.
Bad were the videos, the RV so slow.
I was riding along, sipping some Joe.
Worse was the guy who showed up at one.
AM, that is, who came for a run.
He looked here, he looked there,
He couldn’t find me anywhere.
But he saw my RV as it moved.
I must be inside, and that’s how he proved.
That crossing the country was pretty easy.
When you enjoy part of it in your RV.
Some people spoke up, they still believed Lance.
Said I was a good guy, just give me a chance.
But the writing was on the wall, so my foot got sore.
I knew it couldn’t last anymore.
The RV abandoned, so was my "race".
Time for more interviews all over the place.
There are those who’ll believe me and always will.
Which is why no matter what, you go in for the kill.

I'm up-to-date as it's just a good distraction every morning. The latest is he uploaded stuff to Strava went oh crap this doesn't look good, took them down and edited and uploaded instead. Luckily the sleuths over there got most of the real tracks prior to take down. That combined with earlier stuff just really show the guy was riding in the RV for a bunch of miles early in the attempt. Overall, it's good he failed after trying to run for real in front of real ultra-runners who came to watch.
Here's a good summary from page 433 ;)
Read the entire thread. What a story. Here is how I think you package it for maximum non-expert understanding:
1. RY does dishonest things like buying fake twitter and facebook followers and claiming to have professional cycling experience.
2. People became suspicious when his early trip postings seemed unrealistically fast and included activities like playing football and making a side-trip to the grand canyon, and his pictures didn't look like someone breaking a grueling endurance record.
3. People who tried to meet him unannounced found the RV but not RY running.
4. RY refused to upload the TomTom watch data which would show his cadence and HR to verify his effort.
5. When a group of veteran ultrarunners showed up to watch him in person, he was unable to produce anything like his previous performances, in a far easier section of the country, and medically collapsed after a few days of effort and terminated his attempt.
6. RY and team have still refused to share the core TomTom watch data, instead uploading incomplete manually edited data to Strava, and even their cooked data shows a clear division between realistic segments of mixed effort run-walking, and unrealistic segments of smooth fast travel at a pace far beyond what RY is capable of, based on extensive documentation of his publicly verified results.
To summarize, multiple sources of evidence consistently demonstrate both deliberate cheating during the early Western portion of his trip, and an organized effort to conceal the cheating once questions were raised. If they were being honest, they would have shared the TomTom data as soon as questions were asked during the trip. When the Geezers showed up to watch them in person, they fell apart and the attempt ended.
Case closed to any reasonable person.
There are many other supporting details about fabrications in his previous history, individually impossible segments of GPS data, questions about many of his other claimed achievements, and lots else, but the core narrative of "RY rode in an RV to cheat on his WR attempt and he and his team lied about it" is indisputable without willful blindness to the evidence.

My favorite post is "well he clearly wasn't running those 25 miles at that pace, but he couldn't have been on the RV either...I wonder what alternative form of transportation he could have taken on that bike path?"
To me the real story to me that people seem to be missing is that SKINS may have been in on it.

I have read some but not all of the LR thread- the anger towards SKINS is clear but what is the evidence that they might be in on it?

Direct evidence: they allegedly had a representative as part of the support team.
Indirect evidence: did they vet the guy before sponsoring him?

But in response to the quoted section, the number of companies and individuals that, unfortunately, blatantly buy fake followers is huge (however, fyi, we have never done this). Not saying that is any excuse, but it is a very very common practice.
And then, on top of that, even if you do try to "legitimately" advertise your page by paying fb to promote your fb page, guess what happens? You get fake followers! Often, more fake followers than real followers. (We have never done this either because of this very issue.) And, of course, fb knows that this happens, but they do nothing about it. Heck, why should they, the more fraud that occurs, the more money fb gets. Hard to believe, but it is true. More details about how this works, quite entertaining too:

Interesting. One of the "experts" they decided to use had a familiar name: Roger Pielke Jr. He only seems to be an expert at cherry picking data to downplay climate change. Why the hell did they choose him?

This is getting tiring...
Will I have to read through another Letsrun sleuthing?
Why do people feel the need to make their personal quest a public affair that really nobody cares about?
Although Young's "journey" had some really good entertainment value....such as Young walking in place while riding in the back of his RV.....
Hope Hollywood has some scripter on it already.

Pete Kostelnick has far, far better palmares in the ultra world than Robert Young (including being the back-to-back winner and course record holder at the Badwater 135). He's also posting all of his runs to Strava. If he gets the record, it will be almost certainly be legit.

The Pr after Pr marathon uphill the whole way during the attempt kinda already proved it. I loved the 9-10% extended climbs at 5 minutes per mile.

Another loser busted in their quest to cheat their way to some sort of transient fame they so desperately crave. Like Julie Miller, Rosie Ruiz and others in the long line of cheaters, they can't admit it even in the face of overwhelming evidence, and when even their closest supporters no longer buy their story. He too will slink off into well deserved obscurity like all the rest.
