Outside of maybe some gay communities the service for a man-only driver will not be popular.

I think a service of female only drivers for men would be a hit though.

Do you know what 'posed as' means. It means the rapist wasn't an Uber driver.

Don't know if you've ever used Uber but it gives you a picture of the driver on your phone. If someone shows up who isn't that pictured person then DON'T GET IN THE CAR!

I've used Uber a few times and it's usually a chick (probably because once they see it's me all them ladies fight over it).

seems like an easy fix for Uber, allow a customer to choose M, F, other drivers in their preferences.

That could be a can of worms, though. Think of a bunch of drunk guys trolling for a F driver.

There is a case for only allowing women to choose women. But you're right, Uber could easily add "Uber Pink" to "Uber Black."

Pink? Maybe. Maybe not. You decide.

It could be, especially since Uber doesn't verify the sex of the rider. But a female driver could always elect to only give rides to female riders. Maybe when setting up the account for a female rider, they could request additional screening to get a verified F status to make those female drivers more comfortable in picking up those fares.

There are always going to be crappy people out there but I think Uber could be hurting from the woman rider side of things with the women feeling unsafe with a male driver, not the other way around. It seems like the drivers can pick and choose the fares they want to pick up easier.

I'm sure those that would like special treatment are more than happy to pay extra for it.

Either way, your idea can become problematic. What if I'm uncomfortable with gay drivers?

I think if there is enough public concern about color/orientation of your driver, Uber would develop it. Now, I don't think that is an issue so they probably won't address it. Right now Uber has a perception problem where female riders are wary or using uber because of that perceived threat of sexual assault. Easy fix is give the ability to filter drivers based on their sex rather than lose possible business to another startup

There's a problem with that start up, though. It's illegal to only hire women drivers.
