BBSC Rage TRI was advertised as a 70.3. The website shows clearly a list of distances for the 2 loops and 1 half-loop for the revised bike course adding up to 56 miles. My activity on Strava, and even the interactive map on BBSC's web site report only 53 miles. I have a Suunto watch, and the Movescount site shows 54.84 miles for the course. I looked at another person's race time on Strava and it reports the 53 mi distance.
I'm really curious as to what happened here. It looks at first blush that they knew the course was short (their own map shows it) but advertised it as 56 anyway in their course description. How can this be a USAT sanctioned event if the course is short?
Right now I'm assuming my watch, another racer's watch, Strava, and the map website for the course are right. If this was a 70.3, I did a major PR on this race, hitting just under 6. I would have been around 6 if I had to ride those few extra miles. I feel really down that this has happened. For every bit of excitement I had when I saw my result, I now feel equally angry and confused. I didn't PR on a 70.3 today. I raced some odd 67.3 mile race for the first time. I feel cheated. I feel like I cheated myself. I also feel upset that I paid a great deal of money to travel to, stay, and race this course only to find out that they didn't measure it right.
Thoughts? Advice?
