Yes 750k is greedy, a group ride is inherently dangerous, thinking you deserve something because you got injured while doing something that is dangerous is greedy. Riding with a group at a camp would indicate some people aren't good riders, complaining that one of these people than did something that they weren't supposed to do is moronic.

I ride with a cycling club here in Toronto. The club requires that all new members sign and submit a waiver. It basically states that cycling has inherent risks and you accept them and release the club of any liability. I hope this club/school has something like that in place. If they do, and the rider signed it, there shouldn't be a case.
It doesn't mention anything about other riders and their responsibility to each other, so if someone causes an accident, they could legally be sued.
