I'm 56, and I could run a 4:20 mile…just not all at once.

I noticed that, too. I'm a little sensitive because one of my former teammates died running a mile post-college but still in his 20's. A mile seems like the combination of intensity and duration to find the hidden defects.

I can cover 3 feet in 0.000 seconds. So all I have to do is string together 1,760 of those segments. :)

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I--
I took the one less traveled by,
Which is probably why I was registering 59.67mi as I rolled into T2.

Barry Lewis (a bud of mine) is 56 and he ran a 1:26 for the half at Eagleman--that's 6:35/mile.
Look for him to win M55-59 at Kona--he's been doing triathlons for about three years and he's still getting better!

My buddy Michael Smith won the 50-54 at EM with the same overall time. He's 55 next year so it might be fun watching those two guys go at it!

Talk about drama after the race. It's as if he ran under a 4:20 mile or something.

He may have his hands more full than you realize as the defending champ went 9:18 last year and is 57 this year:)

Hey it's Kona--won't be easy! But if Barry is on, I'd bet on him!

Knew about Magill not Shaheed. Googled him and and read this interview that you did with him in 2007. Good read.

I personally find a 4:20 mile way, way more impressive than a 16:38, even if he's a few years older.
also, be prepared for lagat to be sub 4 when he is 48.

Is this the smith from Indy ? If so he is a stud, I never remember him being slow
