Torpedo cage garmin mount??
Struggling to find a mount for my Shiv that is in plain view. Anyone mount their garmin on their torpedo mounted cage? this seems that it wouldmake the most senseable place to put it with a narrow cockpit....

Cool! That's what i'm looking for just flipped around so the bottle is facing forward and garmin is mounted mid-bottle. Thanks for sharing.

not a problem. i had it the other way for ages but couldnt read the screen well. so i then went to a pvc pipe but then it got in the way of my hands wrapping around the bars. so just flipped it around and tada!

I just did a pvc conduit between the bars in front of the torpedo for my Shiv. Works great, and easy to read.

Great minds and all that...I have the exact same set up, but the mount is for my old Garmin Edge.

I use a Profile Design universal mount out in front of my torpedo bottle, far enough out where I can see it. I have to mount the torpedo as far back as it will go in order to have space.

I have seen conflicting reviews on the XLab mount. Will it hold a Garmin Edge?

Conflicting reviews that's not good! Yes the mount will hold Garmin Edges. We have a 500 in house and mounted it on there. You can see it here

Thanks Candice. Yes, there is a review on Amazon stating that it does not fit. Reviewer had even email xlab and been assured that it would. They actually include the email in the review.

Here is the link

Installed the X-lab computer mount last week. So far it has worked perfectly. Like the poster above I turned my torpedo mount around so that the bottle slides towards me. It puts the computer to where it is easy to read and, honestly, I find getting the bottle in and out to be easier. Thats obviously just personal preference though.

I, too, use the XLab mount for my Garmin Edge 500. I like the multiple options to where I can attach the mount, however, my Garmin wants to "slide" left or right off of the head piece as if it is just slightly too small to hold the Garmin mount with bands. The computer doesn’t fall off, but will move to one side where I cannot just glance down. The result is to move the computer back to the center of the post during the ride, a distraction I can do without. I have considered permanently gluing the mount to the top of the post, but if I change the layout of the cockpit, I would have to acquire another post as well as another Garmin mount.

Hmmm...how old are the o-ring bands? Reason I ask is I use the same computer on the mount and I don't have any problems.

Nope, nope and nope. I have mine mounted it at the base of the shifters so you don't have to look down to see it. Putting the Garmin at the farthest point of the aerobars keeps it in plain view while keeping the road in view...it's safer too. I use a Profile Design Universal mount and drill a hole at the end of each side (some folks just use PVC pipe). Then latch it to the aerobars with a couple of zip ties. The Garmin base will go right around the tube. Works great, looks great.

Do you have the rubber disc that came with your Garmin between the mount and the computer?
