The new TT bike - the first pics
Quote | Reply
So my Jamis Xenith T1 frame set arrived yesterday and now of course I still miss all my drive train parts. :-(
Plus I realized that I need a 1" stem and not the one I had set aside with a 1 1/8" steerer. Oh well, I thought I would put it somewhat together to get an idea what this mean machine will look like.

Still looking a bit naked without bars, stem, saddle and drivetrain parts, but very sexy

I wonder where the front brake is? :-)

Nicely hidden inside the aero fork

The wheel cutout area is tight and tidy

You know a bike is sexy when I get "full" just looking at it with just wheels.

customerjon @gmail.com is where information happens.

That is super cool. I think we will be seeing a lot more of this front brake integration from other popular brand names- including some of the most popular. It is a solid idea.

That bike looks killer. The wheels are cool too. Nice close fit for the rear wheel cut out. It's interesting Jamis has made such a credible looking contribution to the triathlon category when they previously were strong in very different categories. Good to see.

Unlikely since we have a Patent Pending on the design.

I can't tell, but are those vertical or horizontal dropouts on the rear?

If they are vertical, there isn't much room for varying tire high points as they relate to the cut out on the seat tube. If they're horizontal, well, nevermind.

They are horizontal indeed, so no worries. I realize though that my pics didn't show this.

Have you got calipers to take the measurements we all want to know?

"looks pretty hot, except for the seatpost head."

do you mean the dual position element of it? i wonder if there's any reason why one cannot take a hacksaw to the back part?

Very, very nice. The brake placement is real clever.

What 1 inch stems are out there - what will you get? I use a Giant adjustable and want to upgrade to something less flexy on my old QR PR7.

Thanks for the kind comments guys. These are just starting to arrive in stores and availability will be limited, but will improve in a couple of months.

What measurements are you in need of?

yup, the rear overhang part. not elegant, to put it mildly.

a hacksaw might work, but it depends how the thing is formed.

too bad they just didn't make a straight tri post for 95% of their riders, and another rear overhang post for the poor souls that have to bend to the dumb rules of the puzzle palace (the UCI).

I agree with Slowman on this. I have been looking at a lot of these dual posts and never understand (other than resale value) why people do not take a dremel to the rear part. Once you are fitted on the bike, why have extra material.

I really like the look of this frame and fork and would love to purchase just the frame/fork package. If I ever do then I will take a dremel to the post for sure.

No Calipers!?! With the Ghisallo gone and having acquired this frame it is time to accept that you are moving from ww to aw (aeroweenie) and get some nice calipers. Or a micrometer.

Width of HT. width x depth of DT (btwn bottle bosses), ST(above cutout), SS and post

why can't you just use a shim to shim the stem to 1"?

that's what specialized did. otoh, maybe there's some nice little aftermarket piece that turns that seat post goiter into a rear water bottle cage holder or something.

HT= 33mm

ST = 31 x 61mm
SP = 26 x 55mm
SS = 12 x 23mm

LOL, are you kidding? I don't think it cost him a cent ("Gorrilla" marketing anyone?)...and more power to him I say. :)

Herbert, sick looking ride mate. But after seeing the Walser/Cucuma pics, those wheels just scream for a white frame. ;) What are the final build specs?
