Welcome. If you have a bike -- any bike -- and if you can swim -- any stroke -- you can race. Start small, and don't let notions of training or equipment perfection hold you back.

Welcome and here are the answer to all your questions
Cervelo, bento Box - no, Asics Kayano, more is more, lower is better, slow before fast, its all about the run, pull buoy - no, Specialized Toupe, no squats, Infinit, Desoto, watch the seat height.

Welcome (back), "Gakim".
How do you feel about portly triathletes? You must have an opinion.

Go out and get yourself a Binto Box. Best piece of triathlon advise you'll get here on Slowtwitch.

Not to worry this group will get you ready for your 1st triathlon. The only thing they'll ask you for in return is a very long race report.
Also, check out the trinewbies forum, there's a bunch of tri-geeks over there that will help you too.

Quick observation (maybe I'm reading too much into your post) but TNO has *no* air elitism at all. Post a question you get it answered.
ST is swell, I spend a bit of time lurking, occasionally posting, but there are times when someone posts who is clearly not a "cool kid" and is just ignored. It's all good, most of the time searching the archives gets a user what they need, but the search engine on this puppy isn't very robust so that means scrolling through pages of stuff (and yah, I know how to use boolean logic), so I can see why users re-post after plugging and chugging the archives. Anyhoo, I digress.
Tom's presence on TNO is a good thing, people will benefit from it, and I'm sure over time it will be a mutually beneficial relationship from his perspective if it isn't already.

Hey there - yeah, it does sound like it (reading too much into it). My post was meant to imply - WHY is TD just NOW signing in to TN? Two points on that:
1. TD has been around on ST since the dawn of the forum - he's hardly a Newbie ...
2. And in light of that fact, why is it only NOW that he's joined that forum?
Not a criticism, judgment or assessment of who has to offer what. From one of the 'UNCOOL' ST kids ... Chill : )
I've been pulling for you swimmy.
