Happy roll down day?
Last night was the deadline for signing up for Chicago (for our faster brethren). I assume the roll downs could happen today.

We'll soon see if H20fun owes me an ice cream or not.

Hope they don't let any slackers sign up today beyond the deadline, especially if they realized they missed the deadline by reading your post. ;)

I'm guessing it might take them a day to get everything organized after the registration deadline. It is a Monday.

Quick bump to see if anyone has received roll downs today. I assume it will take time, but I'm at a conference at the Chicago Hilton so it is front and center on my mind!

I've been thinking the same all day. I am 8 down in 35-39...probably too far down.

You must be in the Olympic, because I'm 33rd in the 35-39 sprint! Think positive thoughts...

You are correct! No news is good news but I am cautiously optimistic & won't be heartbroken if it doesnt't happen. Train & race harder next time, right?

I am only 3 out in M40-44 Olympic. Was hoping to hear something by now and don't want to bother them (again). But the rest of my season schedule hinges on whether I will be in Chicago that week.

I'm planning to bother them again tomorrow morning. :) I'm guessing they are giving those in the top 25 as much leeway as possible to sign up, even if it's after the stated deadline.

Someone asked this - Will you all be trying to fill spots of those who declined? Or do those spots just stay empty? - on Saturday on the Team USA Facebook page and no one from USAT has responded.

Asked this morning. They are double checking all registrations now and will notify all athletes that have received spots via the rolldown lists later this week.

Good luck everyone.

FYI - get on the accommodations now. Bears game put a big squeeze on available hotels.

I think it said August 9th.

Fwiw, i rarely ever stay downtown, we almost always stay in oakbrook in the suburbs at a fraction of the cost.

I got in too. This is funny... because I wasn't paying attention to the deadlines for the qualifiers. So I assumed the chance for a roll-down had passed a long-long time ago. Heh... So I was completely floored when the email popped in to my inbox yesterday. This completely changes my season, because I wasn't planning on any major races at all. Because we had our second baby last fall, so this year has been hit or miss. In spite of that, I've managed to stay reasonably fit. So with 8 weeks to go, I think I can get ready with a 3 week block, 1 week recovery, another 3 week block, and then 1 taper/peak/race. Should be fun!

You'll do great! Gotta ask - race/ AG/ place in line? It sounds like lots of people got emails yesterday. Makes me worried that it might have been the last round.

I don't know why they are giving folks until Aug. 9 to decide. Seems like an excuse not to have to work on any more rolldowns after that as they'll be running up against ITU deadline & working on Team USA registration deposits from this year's nationals. Starting to think Dave might win his bet.

Hopefully any folks who got emails yesterday and don't want to go will let USAT know ASAP.

I've given up hope and am trying to finally let this go after a year. A solo 100-mile ride I decided to do this morning helped. I shouldn't have listened to friends and family who told me I'd likely get a rolldown spot.

I sure hope I lose!

Well shall see very very soon if we get the FULL 25 per AG as USAT said they would get. (The super old do not count other but will see the numbers)

I would love to be buying the ice cream I have bet with multiple people on about this. Just to be doing roll downs this late basically already says I am right, but, .....

Sorry for the delay. Olympic/M40-44/31st (I think)

I had kept in touch with USAT and was told right before the deadline last Sunday I was 3rd in line, so 3 or 4 had already told USAT they were out, including one of the local guys I know in the Kansas City area. Ordered my kit and gear today!!!

Very cool. I'm realistic about my odds, especially being 2nd in line, but still hopeful. I'd be happy to be the USAT equivalent of "Mr. Irrelevant".

Good one! I'm trying everything I can to get drafted, except we'd be paying them. :)
